Chapter 4

The night air whips my hair as Levi rides our horse, because of me still being scared of titans and still in a weak state Levi made me ride a horse with him. 😑🐴

Erwin claimed that this expoditon was very important for the female titan was spotted in the wide open fields outside Wall Maria.

Erwin wants to get information on it and get out before morning.

Levi claimed she was acting suspious as if she was looking for something...

~Later on~
We made it to the open fields where the female titan was spotted by Erwin ages ago, according to Erwin, she has visited the exact spot quite a few times.

Once we stop we set up camp in a nearby castle reck that sits on the side of the area.

While cadets were unpacking and lighting more torches I cling to Levi's arm like glue, I was so 'Petra'fied 😏 (Sorry I had too it was right there)

Levi gives me a cold stare and asks,
"Cadet?", the wooden door creaks in the dark corner, I jump almost twenty feet and squeeze Levi's arm hiding my face in his shoulder.

He sighs and rubs my head harshly messing up my hair, "It's just Reiner, calm down cadet", I still hang onto him and a brown-haired woman giggles adjusting her glasses.

Levi growls, "Hanji you four eyes! get back to work!", The woman named Hanji chuckles in delight as she meerily skips away.

He turns his gaze to me and says, "You're to be afraid of one's shadow aren't you?", I see Erwin open a tattered curtain to find a titans frozen face right at the frame.

I yelp and tears pour down my face as I tremble, Erwin closes the curtain a few cadets look at me sympathetically, Erwin rubs my head gently and says,
"Y/N, I promised your mother I will take care of you whenever we do jobs like this, it's going to be okay, I'm just going to go out there and sort out that titan for you",
"Oh and another thing, if I happen to not be around Levi here will do a good job at taking care of you", Erwin makes a smug expression making a small laugh escape from my frightened state.

Erwin left with a small group of cadets leaving me and Levi and the rest of the cadets.

"So you're afraid of the dark and titans, this must be the worst place for a brat like you", Levi says, I nod hoping he doesn't leave my side.

He sighs and leads me to a sleeping bag and sits me down by the shoulders, "Stay here, I won't be far I'm just across the room", Levi leaves me shaking in the corner looking around like an agitated cat.

"Heeey~ Y/N right?", The boy if I remember correctly as Jean or for an easier reminder he has the face of the horse Levi and I rode to get here.

I nod and Jean sits next to me wrapping an arm around my shoulder making me feel uncomfortable, "I can keep you safe if you'd like, I'm Jean by the way" he flashes his teeth when he smiles.

I shuffle awkwardly in his grasp and say, "T-that's nice of you b-but-", suddenly Jean was on the ground with a foot on his chest, I look up at Annie as she looks down at Jean with her usual expression.

"I doubt you can even protect yourself", Annie coldly says, then gentle arms wrap around my neck protectively, "Are you alright Y/N?", Historia hugs me, once she let's go I nod and thank her for her concern.

Historia, Ymir, Mikasa, a girl named Sasha and Annie decided to keep me company we even found pieces of charcoal and wrote 'No guys allowed in this corner' on the wall making me giggle.

It is nice to have girl time for once, we talked and laughed, I actually forgot about the dark and the titans.

Then Levi's voice was heard across the room to all cadets as he stood next to Erwin, "Cadets, our job tonight is to gather and search for information, we  planned to leave before morning because we thought the female titan would be inactive and stuck here seeing though it's night, however she is nowhere in sight",
"We might have to stay till daylight, which means we have a chance of finding the female titan except she will be active which will make her a threat if she spots us not to mention other titans nearby", Levi says holding his chin in thought.

"W-well as you said the female titan visits this place often why don't we just go to HQ and wait another day?" Armin asks, Erwin looks at Levi, Levi coughs and says, "We were expecting the female titan to be inactive in this area but we were wrong we came here for nothing", cadets gave glances at each other in disappointment and worry.

"But we just unpacked everything!", a cadet says over the crowd angrily, Erwin steps in and says, "We know and you are all tired, but do you want to go back to HQ when titans are active in daylight?", Erwin tries to reason a few cadets grumble and murmur until Reiner bursts into the room and says, "Somethings wrong, the horses are gone so are the carts!".

The room falls silent, Erwin and Levi's eyes are wide they turn to the cadets, Erwin clears his throat nervously, "I-it seems we are forced to stay the night after all..."

~10:00pm~
We are all getting ready for bed, I got back to the corner when I see Levi leaning against a wall across the room, I approach him nervously and ask, "L-Levi, where do you sleep? U-unless you don't plan to!", I say looking away once I realized it must've been rude of me to say the last bit.

I twist a piece of hair in my fingers feeling anxious, Levi says, "Why do you want to know brat?", I look at him  in fright and his eyes widen in understanding, "I see now, you want me to sleep with you to keep you company through your fears", he says taking his chin in thought again.

"N-no I didn't mean sleep together together! I just meant can I sleep beside you?", I blush, Levi takes my shoulders and leads me to the corner sitting me down on my bed.

He retrieves his own sleeping bag and sets it beside mine and climbs in, I get relaxed in my own and immdeitately take his hand when someone blew out one of the torches nearby.

His eyes widen but his expression relaxes letting me stare into his blue-gray eyes before drifting asleep still holding his hand.
