Reagan Garcia's POV
"You're going to be amazing Mami, and they're gonna love you, trust me." Robert said squeezing my hand as he pulled into the big parking lot in the back of the university.
"You don't know that." I said looking around nervously at all the students on campus.
"Of course I do. Look I love you, so I know for sure they're going to love you, plus these students are going to be too busy partying to even think about disliking you." he said smiling at me with hopeful eyes his dimples flashing in front of me.
"You're right, thank you babe." I said pecking his lips.
"Now you're going to walk in there and do what?" he asked jokingly
"I'm about to own it." I said confidently
"That's the spirit." he said, pulling me into a deeper kiss and I could still taste the colgate toothpaste on his tongue. "Damn you're so fine" he said breaking the kiss and I slightly pushed him off before things got too heated.
"Babe" I said playfully opening the passenger door.
"Alright alright, just text me when you're ready and I'll be here to pick you up, your car should be ready by this afternoon so I'll go pick it up." he said before blowing me a kiss and driving off. As soon as I stepped out of the car, the fresh breeze and the smell of freshly dead leaves hit my face. I could feel the students staring at me as I made my way to the back door and letting myself in. I did my best to stay out of the way as students were rushing and talking among themselves and I could feel and hear the excitement in their voices. I smiled remembering my first day in college, it seemed so far away and yet I still remember every detail so perfectly clear. Even though I already came here once on the tour, I still managed to get lost before finding my classroom on the third floor. I unlocked the door and walked in smiling at my decoration before placing my purse on my desk. I spent 10 minutes doing some breathing exercises to calm my nerves while fidgeting with my wedding ring taking it on and off. I got up and opened the door knowing students were about to start flooding in. Since it was the first day I didn't have much planned for the day besides getting to know each other's activities. Looking at the clock I realized class starts in 5 minutes and sure enough the students started filling up the room one by one, I could feel some of them staring at me and could make out their hushed compliments about my appearance. I put on my best teacher smile and prayed to God they took me as seriously as I was taking the class. I graduated early, and in all my internships and previous teaching jobs, I always had trouble since I looked so young.
"Okay class is this it?" I asked out loud when the last student walked in. He smiled at me and winked before grabbing a seat right at the front of my desk. You're going to be one of those...really I thought to myself rolling my eyes. I walked to the door and closed it before walking back to the board.
"First and foremost I would like to welcome you all to Criminal Psychology 102, I'm not sure about you guys, but I'm excited to be teaching you all this semester, a little nervous but very excited." I said smiling at them. A few of them smiled and laughed at my nervousness and one of them raised his hand. "Yes?" I said addressing him.
"How old are you?"
"25, and yourself?" I asked, getting some approving looks from the rest of the class as they all turned to look at him.
"19" he said looking away.
"Alright guy's we're going to get started, so my name is Mrs. Gar..." before I could finish writing it on the board I heard a faint knock on the door. I walked over to open it and was met with the world's biggest and most apologetic honey colored eyes I've ever seen in my life. For a few seconds I didn't know what to say.
"Hi" she said shyly extending out her hands "I'm so sorry I'm late I got lost." she said looking at the floor.
"Come on in, we were just getting started." I said and moved aside so she could walk in. She made her way to the back and took a seat. Do I know you? I wondered to myself glancing at her.
She looked so familiar but I decided to get back to teaching knowing that if I'd ever seen those eyes anywhere in my life before, I would have definitely recognized them.
"So, my name is Reagan Garcia, you may call me Mrs. Garcia. I'm going to start by going over the roster and please don't hesitate to correct me if I pronounce your names wrong, or if you have any nicknames you'd prefer just let me know." I started calling out the names and so far most of them were here.
"Okay who's next um, Gabriella Carter?" I called keeping my focus on the computer screen.
"Present." her angelic voice said from the back of the class. Angelic? The fuck is wrong with you? I mentally smacked myself.
"Alright and I think that's it." I said before starting with the activities I had planned for them. They seemed like a good class and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. We were now a little over halfway through the class and everyone was sitting down waiting for the next activity.
"As of now I would like to know which of you were able to purchase the book for the class and those of you that haven't please come up and see me." About 6 approached me and I handed them the extra copies I had bought with me, and by the end of the class I was very satisfied. I'm positive I wasn't going to have any trouble with anyone in this class, they were all surprisingly polite. I kept asking questions and everyone except Gabriella participated. She spent the entire class quiet in the back of the room focusing on the board and I couldn't figure out what was so interesting about it for the life of me.
After everyone left for their next class I took out my phone to send Robert a text letting him know how happy I was with this group and that's when I noticed someone was standing in front of my desk. I looked up and there they were again. I know those eyes from somewhere. I thought to myself.
"Yes Gabriella?" I asked
"You can call me Gabby, I don't like the sound of my full name." she said smiling down at me.
"Okay Gabby, what can I do for you?" I asked, returning the smile.
"May I have a book please? I thought I wouldn't need one because I thought I would.."
"It's alright, you don't have to explain." I said handing her a book.
"Oh, thank you." she said, taking a deep breath. "Don't feel like you have to explain your personal life to me Gabby, just let me know how I can ever help make class more understanding and easier for you, I'd like it to be worth your time and money." I said really looking at her, my god she was so beautiful.
She quietly laughed and stared into my eyes.
"I'm sure it will." she said before grabbing the book. "Thanks Mrs. Garcia." she said and left me sitting there dumbfounded at how smooth my name sounded coming off her lips. What the hell! You just met this girl and you don't know her, get out of your head and do your job Reagan! I thought to myself while completely forgetting about the fact that I was in the middle of texting my husband.
