Gabby's POV: 34
"He's sweet but he's such a fucking asshole sometimes" Stephanie said laying on my bed. We've been spending more time in my dorm room because the parties on campus were getting lame and it was only January, so we still had some time left of school. "Maybe you misheard him" I said thinking of her entire situation.
"No best friend I''m telling you he said it. We were hanging out in his dorm and everything was fine until his friends came over and they started getting drunk. They were getting loud and I wanted to leave. He told me to hang out for a little bit and then he's friend looked at me dead in my eyes and said 'yeo tell this nigga to chill the fuck out' I was so shocked, and I waited to see like what he would say but he just laughed. They laughed like it was a fucking joke. I know he was drunk but still." she said getting mad again.
"It's pissing me off because even this morning when he saw you he acted as if nothing happened." I said getting upset with her. This was a big deal especially for her. Part of her reason for never dating a white boy is because she never wanted to deal with any racism and she never wanted to have to explain it to someone she was dating. She gave Justin a chance and honestly I don't think he realizes how big that was. I don't think he's racist. I think he doesn't know better and that's probably how he interacts with his friends on a daily basis. Stephanie and him never had any conversation about racism before or even police brutality against the black community, but how can you be dating an African American and think it's okay to say racist shit like that so casually?
"I'm done with him. I'm not his fucking teacher and I'm not about to sit here and spell it out for him." she said walking to my fridge and grabbing a water bottle.
"Let's go out tonight, off campus. We could both use a drink and some fun." I said and she smiled. I sat up and wiped the tears off her face.
"Kevin's bar is still close."
"There's a gay bar on the other side of town. It's a bit of a drive but honestly it'll be worth it." I said.
"True, plus we need to find you a rebound." she laughed and stopped when she saw my face. I know how she felt about Reagan and she never tried to hide it.
"I'm just saying. You could probably find someone single with no baby daddy drama." I smiled at her honesty and boldness. It's been two days since I left Kenna's house and I haven't been in the mood to talk to either one of them. Kenna's been texting me and letting me know how Reagan was doing because I obviously still cared even though I was mad, but I didn't want to talk to Reagan herself. She never texted me after I left which meant that she was still upset, but I honestly didn't care about that. I think she was wrong in the situation and once Stephanie agrees with me honestly there's nothing anyone else can tell me that's going to change my mind. We got dressed and drove to the gay bar and the scenery was so different when we stepped in. I've heard about it from Nico but I never had the time to actually come here. I spotted Nico sitting at the bar with some friends and we made our way to him. He pulled me into a hug and smiled.
"Hey beautiful." he said. I looked at him over approvingly. He told me he came here straight from a job interview so he was in a light pink button up that hugged his biceps with some dark dressed pants and a brown belt and brown dressing shoes. Nico was a very attractive man and he knew it. He wasn't arrogant or cocky but he took a lot of pride in his appearance. I hugged him back and we all sat down. After a few drinks and joking around, Stephanie was already on the dance floor dancing with a stud but she looked like she was doing all the dancing. I let her enjoy herself and kept joking around with Niko.
"Let's dance!" Niko screamed and I could tell he was feeling the drinks and honestly so was I. I had on a tight black skirt that had a slit on the side reaching up to my thighs and a matching laced top with brown strappy heels. We honestly looked like we both picked out our outfits together. Nico was an amazing dancer, we partied together on campus multiple times and some people thought we were together because of how well we danced together. I loved hanging out with him because it doesn't matter how intimate our dances looked, I always felt comfortable and was happy that he was gay so we both just loved it and it's never awkward. They started playing some haitian Kompa music and I felt him pull me on the dance floor. I laughed and followed him, already moving my hips to the beat. He was Haitian American and was so proud of his culture and it was the cutest thing ever. He taught me how to dance to their music and he was so proud of how far I came. We both got close and started swaying to the music until it completely overtook my entire being and I felt free. I loved dancing and the fact that he knew what he was doing made everything so much better. He pulled me close and placed his hand on my lower back as my hips started moving against his. We were both so lost in the music and it was amazing. I looked over and Stephanie was having just as much fun. They turned off the lights and soon the disco light was flashing around us. Everyone was having such a good time and I forgot about everything. When my feet started getting tired I went to the bar and sat down as Nico went to the bathroom. I heard a group of people singing Happy Birthday next to me and I looked to see Kenna laughing with some people. She saw me and walked over.
