Kenna's POV: 38
With every word coming out of Robert's mouth I could see how close Gabby was to losing her shit. I wanted her to look at me so I could tell her that she wasn't alone in what she was feeling, but she didn't. I hated Robert and that was never a secret. I hated him when they first met and I hate him now. I knew this was going to happen. I know my sister isn't in love with him, but he has always been a smooth talker. I'm surprised he hasn't talked his way out of prison yet. He was sitting there saying all the right things and of course like always , my sister was sitting here eating it all up. No matter how much she hates him, she's never been able to find her voice around him. Every time they used to fight, she would get scared around him and not say anything, but then after it was over she would hate herself for not standing up for herself. And this was just another one of those moments.
The moment he looked at her I saw her tensed up. When he started crying and she grabbed his hand it took everything out of me to not say anything, but we had already talked about how important this was for her, and she needed to do this alone. Gabby has never seen how my sister is around Robert which is why she was taking all of this so hard. She doesn't fully understand the strong his hold on her really is. I love my sister, but when it comes to him she's always been weak. The whole car ride home I could tell Gabby was in another world. My sister was crying and there was nothing I could say to help her and honestly I didn't want to help her. I've been telling her to leave Robert since she first met him but she's stubborn. Sitting there in front of Gabby and talking about their past and showing him as much affection as she did was wrong . I know it and she knows it. She loves Gabby but part of her will always belong to him. When Gabby left I wasn't even surprised because I would've done the same thing.
My sister spent the entire rest of the day crying in her room and I gave her space because I didn't want to get rid of her guilt. As the youngest she used to get away with everything and even now when she does something wrong she would act as if she was the victim. She's gotten a lot better but I didn't want to make this okay for her. After Gabby walked out she started getting mad at herself and the situation she put herself in. Robert had smiled at her and she slapped him. She told him that she was glad she finally got some closure because seeing him made her realize that he will always be the same narcissistic piece of shit he's always been. He was shocked. He thought he had her right where he wanted her. When we walked out she started crying and then looked at me. I gave her a hug and walked us back to the car. When she got there Gabby never said a word to her up until she left. I felt bad for the both of them. I could see how much they love each other but they both keep going about certain things the wrong way. My sister should've never changed her mind about Gabby coming at the last minute because that would've made me suspicious too. She wants Gabby to trust her but she doesn't know how to. She's so used to how Robert was treating her that she doesn't know how to handle the way Gabby treats her. Gabby was good for her but she just couldn't see it.it's been three days since Gabby left. I met her at a coffee shop and was able to talk to her. She was in so much pain. She's convinced that Reagan is still in love with Robert and I could see and understand why she thought so. I told her differently. I explained to her how Reagan used to be before he came along. She understood, but this was something that my sister would have to fix herself. She wasn't working. She's called and texted Gabby multiple times but never got a response until today when she decided to just go look for her. I drove her to Gabby's friends place and waited outside for an hour until they both walked outside and came in the car. I smiled at Gabby and drove back home., neither one of them said anything on the ride over but the moment they stepped in the room the yelling started and I was sitting here trying to ignore them.
"I just need you to trust me!" I heard Reagan yell.
"How can I? After everything you did how can I trust you? You know what he did to me and you fucking sat there and washed his guilt away!!! He's not even sorry Reagan." my sister was quiet.
"I spent two fucking weeks in a cage next to a dead girl!! He tried to rape me! He tortured me until I wanted to die and you just don't give a fuck and now you want me to trust you?"
"Gabby please. I know he was going to pull that shit Gabby he's manipulative it's what he does and the only way to win against Robert is to play his game! I never want to see him again you have to believe me!"
"Why should I?" the house got silent again before Gabby walked out and left.
