Gabby's POV:
"What's wrong with her?" Kenna asked following Gabby in the bathroom. Stephanie was sitting down looking at me and waiting for me to answer but didn't know what to say.
"She didn't get the job?" Stephanie asked and I shook my head as I walked in the kitchen to grab some water. Reagan and Kenna walked in and they both sat down. Reagan had her head in her hands and Kenna was rubbing her back.
"Gabby what happened?" Kenna asked again and I took a seat next to Stephanie.
"Um. Jason must've sent a video to the school. They can't hire her." I explained and they both sat there still looking at me.
"I don't know how. But he got a video of us having sex and sent it to the school."
"It doesn't matter tho, she doesn't work at the school anymore." Stephanie said as Reagan started crying softly. Kenna pulled her to her and held her.
"It was before. It was from that night at the party." Kenna looked at me confusingly.
"We had a one night stand." I said to her.
"Okay and? You guys didn't know each other...
"Yeah, but I was a minor back then. We had sex while I was a minor." Kenna's mouth hung open.
"Fuck..." she got up and went to grab her phone.
"I'm lost." Stephanie said as I walked to Reagan who wrapped her arms around my waist.
"Back in high school. The first time we met and we slept together. I was under 18." I explained and she got quiet as Kenna was pacing back and forth looking through her phone and making calls.
"If we can get in front of this before him. We should be good." Kenna said as the bell rang. We all looked at each other confusingly since we weren't expecting anyone. They knocked loudly at the door and Kenna went to open it.
"We're looking for Reagan carter..." the voice said and when we walked out we noticed two police officers were standing at the door. As soon as they saw Reagan they walked in and grabbed her arms to put behind her back.
"Reagan Carter, you are under arrest for..."
"What the hell are you doing!? Let her go can't you see she's pregnant!" I screamed at them but I felt Kenna held me back
"Don't make it worse Gabby. They shouldn't have seen you here. I'll handle it." Kenna said in my ear but I couldn't help my tears. Reagan looked so lost and broken. She was crying but wasn't even fighting the cops.
"Do you understand these rights as I've explained them to you?" she nodded and followed them outside. I ran and grabbed my keys as I jumped in my car with Stephanie and Kenna and we followed them to the station. The car ride was long and tense. I was crying the whole time as Stephanie kept rubbing my thighs. Kenna was in the back seat making calls after calls. She was able to talk to a few judges and other lawyers who owed her favors. We pulled up and walked inside the station. Reagan was taking to the back and it was killing me how she was just going along with everything. She looked depressed and her eyes were puffy. My heart was breaking at the site and I hated how helpless I felt. I sat there and waited for kenna to finish talking to the officers. Stephanie was trying to be supportive but I couldn't stop my mind and heart from racing. This whole time I've never even thought about the fact that I was 17 that night we first slept together. Stephanie was having a stressful day and I suggested we head out. Kevin knew the guy who hosted the party and when I got there Stephanie and I agreed to get fucked up so we decided to rent out one of the rooms for the night. We were both already drunk by the time we got there and Stephanie met someone and went with them. I was trying to go find Kevin when Reagan bumped into me.
The first thing that popped in my head when I I looked up at her was how sad she looked. Her eyes were teary. Her eyes were so beautiful but they held the saddest look I'd ever seen in my life. And when she held me up and grabbed my hands My whole body froze under her touch. She wasn't even trying to flirt with me and for the first time I was speechless. Everything about her was so mesmerizing and her smell was so intoxicating. Even when I was trying to talk to her she was hiding her sadness with a smile but her eyes spoke everything she was feeling. I could tell she was drunk and the alcohol in my system boosted up my confidence. The next day I wanted to find her. I wanted to look at her one more time without being under the influence, but she was nowhere to be found. That night with her was like no other. None of the other girls compared to what she made me feel. I didn't know her but the emotions and the connection I felt to her made everything so much more than just sex. We looked for her and we tried to find her on social media but never found her until the day I walked in late to her class and her eyes focused on me. When she first looked at me in her class it felt like my entire being was exposed and vulnerable. My heart was racing and everything I felt that night came rushing back. Being that close to her after a year of looking for her gave me goosebumps and even when I couldn't believe it or admit it to myself I knew that I loved her. The pull she had on my heart was too strong for it to just be fling. And now she was about to spend the rest of her life in prison because of me. What was I going to do? How was she going to survive this? This pregnancy was hard on her body. She needed me to watch over her. She needed my help. She needed me.
Kenna drove us back home in silence and I was sitting in the living room not being able to stop crying.
"What can we do? What's going to happen to her?" Stephanie asked, looking at Kenna who was typing away on her laptop.
"She has a hearing tomorrow morning. I'm going to defend her. She won't be there long. I can get her out." she said looking at me.
"Can she take a plea?" Stephanie asked her and she took a deep breath.
"She's got a good chance of going home because Jason's isn't credible on the stand."
"How so? He's got the video."
"Yeah. We had a weird thing two years ago. We broke up because I realized he was an abusive prick. I have a few cases against him that can benefit us. And the fact that he was threatening her and blackmailing her to sleep with him is going to help us a lot." she explained and I looked up at her before walking in my room and laid down. I put on one of Reagan's shirts and went to sleep.
The next day we all woke up early and went to court. The moment I saw Reagan sitting there in an orange jumpsuit I broke down. She looked like she didn't get any sleep at all and I noticed she had a scratch on her face that wasn't there before.
"All rise." everyone stood up and before we knew it they got started. Jason was in the courtroom staring at me the entire time I fought the urge to kill him in front of everyone. The whole thing went by pretty quickly but the judge denied bail and Reagan had to spend another night in that hellhole. She looked at me and threw me a faint smile before they took her out back.
"So what now? I asked Kenna and before she could answer Jason approached us and looked at her.
"Hey I didn't realize you'd be working this case." he said looking at her.
"Something I can help you with Jason?" she asked, pulling out her phone.
"It was nice to see you today." he said looking at her nervously.
"I wish I could say the same."
"She's guilty you know, your client." she smiled and looked at him.
"You know Jason. We both agreed to go our separate way and put everything behind us."
"Yeah and I kept my end of the deal. I left you alone in exchange you dropped the charges against me."
"Yeah well you going after my sister is no difference than you going after me. I'll see you in court." she turned and started walking away and I watched Jason look like he was about to have a heart attack before leaving. I wonder what their deal is? What happened between them?
