Chapter 7: The Kayano household

Kayano's POV

We were finished with school, and both Nagisa and I were going to Nagisa's apartment once more. I asked Nagisa to stay at my apartment this time, as a way for me to repay him for what had happened days prior. I was overjoyed when he said yes.

Although this was just a return of kindness on the surface. Part of me did just want the extra time with Nagisa. His presence is so comforting, and he is such an entertaining person to be with. Just thinking about him makes me smile.

"Uhhhh... Kayano?" Nagisa said.

"Hm?" I say, upon breaking my thoughts of how tonight could go.

"You ok?" Nagisa asked, almost embarrassed.

"Yes I'm fine" I say, "Why do you a—" suddenly, I look down and I was holding Nagisa's hand.

I immediately shriek and back at least 5 meters away from him. Both of our faces were incredibly red. I didn't know I was doing that, or how long it lasted. Nagisa and I stood still in silence for a few moments before Nagisa reached his hand out.

"Kayano if you want to... you can hold my hand, I-I don't mind..."

I tense up a bit, in complete surprise as to Nagisa's offer. "Uhhh n-no thanks, Nagisa. That'd be too embarrassing for me..." We walked the last couple minutes in complete silence.

We arrive at his apartment and he lets us both inside. "Well... I'll be right back, come in and wait in the living room, I'll just pack a few things and we can head out." Nagisa said, as we entered his apartment.

"Thanks, I'll do just that!" I say.

As soon as he closes his bedroom door I look down in my hands in embarrassment.

"AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! WHAT WAS I DOING!?" I screamed in my head. I had no idea what came over me. I was just thinking about him, but in reality I was physically grabbing onto him?

How long was it? Was he ok with it? Did this creep him out? What if it happens again? Will he suspect something?

This is too much right now, all I can do now is make the most out of the rest of the day.

Nagisa's POV

I had just walked into my room to get the necessary things for a sleepover. It was surprising that Kayano chose a school night to do this, but if it is what she wants then it is what she gets.

"Alright, ready to go?" I say with my bags all packed.

Kayano quickly jumps up, as if I've startled her, "Yep! Let's head out!" She exclaimed, with that face she always makes when she gets excited for something.

The walk there was great, we didn't go the park route we did last time. But we did have a good talk anyway.

"I'm glad Korosensei didn't give us any homework, as extra reward for our success on the beach today, it makes this night easier for the both of us." I said

"I agree, nothing for us to worry about at all tonight!" Kayano joyfully said.

"So, what should we have for dinner Nagisa?" Kayano asked, excited for my answer.

"Oh nothing too special, whatever you want will surely make me happy." I said to her, "If you want we could just get takeout."

"Well yeah, but you put a lot of work into dinner at your place, it's only fair that I do the same right?" Kayano replied.

"Kayano, I'd like to just clear this up. You don't owe me for anything that happened on Friday. Really, it was just something nice I did for my friend." I say, hoping she doesn't have to go out of her way to please me to 'be even'.
