Nagisa's POV
Principal Teikoku had a mainstay created when he joined this school. Each home room teacher with first year students got to choose a destination for a class field trip. Today was that day. This would be my second time doing this, since I've only taught first years once before, with the last graduating class. I didn't go into too much detail of the people that were there. And I already knew where we would go. Kunugigaoka's Class 3-E.
The year after I graduated from junior high, the new principal decided to treat the class ranking system more equally. There were still ranks A-E, but now E class was in the main campus, and integrated with the rest of the school. It's nice to see this transition, future students in class E won't have to go through the extreme segregation we had to. Unfortunately they also wouldn't have Korosensei, something that I would rather have over any different treatment.
I was glad to see that all of the permission slips were brought in on time, I'd hate to leave someone behind for this trip. Mr. Minato was kind enough to drive us in one of the school busses to the base of the mountain. We would spend much of the school day in this area.
"Ok class" I begin, "today is the field trip of my choosing, and we are visiting the old campus for Kunugigaoka's class 3-E. This is where I spent the last year of junior high, and where I met the greatest teacher and inspiration of my life." I see a raised hand in the back, it was Chika struggling to stand at the same height as her classmates. Kano was never the tallest person, so I guess it runs in the family.
"Nagisa-Sensei, my sister told me about this place, are you talking about Korosensei?"
"Very observant! That's correct, this is where Korosensei taught me, and made me into the man I am today."
We started the hike up, it wasn't too bad, the building was maybe half way upwards. But what was up there was well worth the wait. I was incredibly lucky this time around too. We had perfect weather, the Korosensei memorial, and a special guest waiting for us at the top.
"Alright class, we've made it to the building that made me who I am!" There was a man sitting at the location of the Korosensei memorial. Nobody had known who he was, and he had been out of the education scene for quite some time now.
"Class, please meet Gakuho Asano, the former principal of Kunugigaoka."
Asano stands up to greet my students, and to say hello to myself.
"It's wonderful to see you all, including you Nagisa. You've certainly kept this place in good shape, and added some new things to the site while you were at it." He says, looking over to the Korosensei memorial.
"A couple months ago, Korosensei's class 3-E had a 15 year reunion. We created this memorial to Korosensei while we were here. We always do an annual cleaning of the place, and Isogai is excellent at managing it."
Asano laughs a bit, in that booming chuckle he's always had. "I'm happy to hear this, and your stature as a teacher, a direct result from Korosensei I assume?"
"You're as observant as ever Mr. Asano, you're absolutely right."
"Well you asked me to join you here, I'm assuming you have a day plan scheduled no doubt?"
"Correct again. Ok listen up everyone! I first want us to meet inside classroom 3-E. I have a few stories to share, and life lessons I will teach you over the next few years."
My class followed Asano and I inside. The place was still spotless, part of the preparation Isogai and Nakamura had done for the reunion earlier this year. The class took their seats near their friends in the class, and Asano in the back to observe.
