Nagisa's POV
My alarm went off at 8:15 in the morning, my usual time I get up on weekends, but today was a Monday morning. I had work off today because of a retreat the first years had that took place on the campus. Today was my son's first day of school.
It's been almost 6 years since Akari and I got married. Our son, Ryushi, was born a year after that. We named him after Korosensei, the greatest influence on our lives, and the reason we know each other to begin with. Akari and I owe everything to that man. I get up out of bed to start getting dressed when someone comes running into my room.
"Daddy Daddy you're awake!" Ryushi exclaims, as he jumps into my arms.
"Hey there big man! Did you sleep well?" I say, matching his energy.
"Yep! I'm all ready for school today too!" Ryushi says, pointing to how he was already changed for the day.
"Very good Ryushi!" I say, putting him down. "Daddy's got to get ready too, so wait by the dining table, please."
He says ok and rushes out. Not only as a teacher, but as a parent it's wonderful to see your kid so excited for school. I quickly got changed before making my way to the kitchen. I prepared some rice omelettes for the both of us, as Ryushi liked them for special occasions.
I finished cleaning up and noticed a brown bag with Ryushi's name on it. Akari packed his lunch before she left for work, how nice of her. Ryushi came back downstairs after brushing his teeth before school. We had to go in about 10 minutes, but Ryushi wanted to go immediately, he was just too excited for his upcoming day.
"Ok Ryushi, we can go sooner, but I need to take a picture of you at the front door. I promised Mommy that I would do so."
"Okay!" Ryushi says with the biggest smile on. He looked like he was truly happy for today. I'm happy hearing this, since he's not going to be with a parent for a very long time. I stopped Ryushi right before he got in the car.
"Don't tell Mommy I'm doing this..." I say, grabbing the booster seat from the back and putting it in the passenger seat. Ryushi giggles at seeing what I've done. It's a big day for him, might as well, right? It was a short enough drive anyway.
I drove off to the school, as Ryushi looked in awe through the front windshield. This was the first time he would be in a car from this perspective.
I parked a block or so away from school, we had to walk the rest. Ryushi's smile progressively went away, he was getting a little intimidated by being without his family for a few hours. We reach the area where Ryushi walks down the steps to where his preschool area is. He was rather hesitant to let go of my hand.
"Is something wrong Ryushi?" I say, looking at his concerned face.
"Daddy I'm a little afraid, I don't really want to be without you or Mommy for so long." Ryushi says, tightening his grip on me.
I squat down to his size and turn him to face me. "Ryushi Shiota, I go to school all the time without Mommy, and I have lots of fun every time. The teachers there, and the kids you will be with are all very nice people. They will all want to be your friend, I promise. And remember, as soon as school ends, Mommy and I will be waiting for you!"
Ryushi heard me out, and after I gave him a big hug, he walked into the preschool classroom. I stood in the courtyard area that the parents waited in for a solid minute. I soon realized that Akari would be on her break soon, I should tell her the news.
Morning hun, I dropped off Ryushi this morning and he was really looking forward to the day. He was a little worried when I said goodbye, but I assured him that it was going to be alright. Here's the photo you asked me to take of him too.
