Thirty-Nine

There was a knock at my office door I looked up seeing Kaarim walking in he closed my door behind him.

"Wassup son."

"Hey pop."

"What can I do for you?"

"First I touched my first mill a few days ago."

"Congratulations."

"Thanks."

"But that's not what you want to tell me is it?"

"It is but I got more to tell you."

"Brittany's pregnant?"

"No pop can you stop guessing and let me tell you."

"Alright."

"I want to propose to Brittany."

"Okay I hope you got Brian blessing."

"Yeah we met earlier today and I got his blessing."

"I knew it was coming."

"Yeah I have to meet with him in 2 hours to go ring shopping and I want you to come along with me."

"You already know I'm there."

"Thanks pop."

"When are you proposing?"

"In 2 weeks on our anniversary."

"Do you know where you want to propose?"

"I do Seychelles."

"You sure?"

"Yes sir."

"Alright anything you need from me," I asked.

"Your jet and of course you helping me set up everything along with Brian mama and mama Lyric can't know because they're going to tell Brit."

"Yeah your mama wont know a thing."

"Is marriage life easy?"

"It's not you're going to have your bumps in the road but as long as you two communicate with each other about how y'all feeling everything will be fine and don't let no man or woman come in between you two."

"Yes sir."

"Me and your mama marriage isn't perfect but we communicate with each other and let each other know what's going on with us."

"Have you two ever decided to go y'all separate ways?"

"Back when you and Kai were kids I almost lost your mama."

"How?"

"Not checking in with her when I had a show and she was worried that I got killed by the police and I said something that I didn't mean and it went left from there."

"How did you two come back together?"

"We talked things out and made up."

Kaarim nodded.

"I hope you're ready."

"Yes sir I am."

"Alright."

I finished my work up in the office then we walked out heading towards the kitchen to cook.

I checked the time on my phone and sighed it would be like my mama, Brittany and Kaleena to be late when I set up brunch for us but the moment I'm late they all got something to say.

"Miss are you ready to order," the waitress asked as she walked back over.

"Yes."

I placed the order for our food and drinks then the waitress walked away I checked my phone again seeing that I didn't have a text from either of them.

"I'm sorry we're late Kai," my mama spoke as they approached us.

"Mhmm."

I stood up and gave all of them a hug then we all sat down.

"I ordered already."

"Okay that's fine."

"What's so important that you had to tell us that you didn't want to say over the phone," Kaleena asked.

"First Brit you've been my best friend since elementary and you're like a sister to me it's only right that I ask you to be my maid of honor."

Brittany didn't say anything.

"Uh Brit."

Brittany let out a small scream then she stood up and walked over to me and hugged me.

"Of course I will I was waiting on you to ask me."

Brittany sat down and I looked at Kaleena.

"From the moment I found out that mama was pregnant again I was hoping that she was having a girl so I could have somebody to play with when Brit couldn't come over and I had your middle name picked out already because I just knew that you were a girl. Once we found out that you were indeed a girl I knew that we was going to be close and we are Leena will you be my bridesmaid."

"Yes."

Kaleena stood up and hugged me then she sat down I went in my purse and pulled out two t-shirts and handed the shirts to them. Now that I got the two most important people out of the way now it's time to find and ask the rest of my bridal party more than likely it'll consist of my cousins since Brittany is my only friend.

Later that day

There was a knock at my door I paused my movie and saw my mama at the door.

"Yes ma'am."

"You have a delivery."

"From who?"

"You'll see come downstairs."

I nodded and stood up from my bed and followed my mama down the stairs we walked over to the door and I saw the delivery guy. He handed me the gift bags.

"Thank you."

"That's not all."

My mama took the bags from me the guy walked back over to his truck grabbed a few more bags and an edible arrangement. He walked back over to me and handed me everything then he said goodbye and walked away.

My mama and I walked into the living room and sat down along with the bags. I grabbed the note that was on the arrangement and read it.

"I hope you like all of the gifts and edible arrangement just because. Love Aiden."

"Who is it from?"

"Aiden he said it's just because."

"He likes you."

"I doubt he's probably still apologizing from what he said to me."

I sat the edible arrangement on the table then I started going through the gift bags. My mouth dropped as I looked at each bag there were several from Chanel, Sephora, Louis Vuitton, Dior and lastly Cartier. After going through everything I grabbed my phone and sent Aiden a message trying to figure out what made him buy all of these gifts for me not that I'm complaining it's just that I know he spent a good bit of money on everything. After going through everything I took all of the bags upstairs to my room then I made my way back downstairs to get my edible arrangement and go back to my room and finish my movie.
