"Oh my god, Jack..." I gasped as I covered my mouth with my hand. Was this really happening? Was all of this real? I could barely form any words, my mind had gone blank form the shock.
How was he here? Why was he here? Did he remember what happened? Or was I really a queen now? So many questions like these made me dizzy as I stumbled back onto my bum. This wasn't good, not good at all. What were Dorian's intentions with Jack? Were they bad?
"Scarlett, stop over thinking things." Jack sternly said, snapping me out if my weak moment."You need to pull yourself together in order for you to free me."
"Free you? What-Jack, please explain what is happening." I begged him as I crawled back to the cage. All eyes were on us (if the men had any eyes that is) listening in to our conversation.
"I can't, not now. We just need-"
"Why not!?"
"Because there's no time. First, we need to get me out of here, second we will grab all the rum we can so that we will survive the couple of days in the rowing boat, then we can get some sort of divorce sorted out. How about that for a plan?"
"I'm so confused about everything. I'm not sure what's real and what's not."
"....have you been drinking? It doesn't smell like you have. Though what with all this rotting flesh, maybe I don't know what anything smells like anymore."
"How do I get you out?"
"I dunno. I was relying on you for that part seeing as you're the pretty little wifey."
"Jack, I can't take this," my breathing was becoming heavy,"so much is left unexplained, so any questions need answers....I have to go." Standing up, I took one last look at Jack before I made up my mind and sprinted towards the door.
"Scarlett! Scarlett come back!" Jack shouted after me. The door was now unlocked, meaning that I could get away from his screaming quicker.
His shouts were now muffled as I hastily walked away. Trying to block them out, I thought of a way to get rid of this rotting flesh smell and a way for Dorian to not notice that he left his keys behind. Though there was no room for things like this, I was too full up of questions, scenarios and the difference between reality and fantasy.
Luckily, what with the incense in the room, the smell went away quite quickly. I opened all the windows as I quickly bathed myself with sponge and soapy water, making the foul stench go away. Wrapping a towel around me, I chucked the keys into the wardrobe to make it seem like they had fallen off of the belt. Soon enough, I was dried and dressed for bed, immediately trying to get back to sleep.
It had probably been ten minutes, and in that time I couldn't fall asleep, Jack was still going through my mine. I heard talking, it was getting closer pretty quickly. It didn't sound like Dorian, there was more than one voice. Reaching out for the dagger in my drawers, I clutched onto it, hiding it underneath the covers.
The men were laughing as the door opened. I guessed that there was three of them though I couldn't be sure. They were shushing each other, obviously drunk, as they proceeded into the room. One man mentioned my name, their footsteps getting closer. The bed dipped either side of me and that's when I pounced. Jumping on one of the men, I pinned him down, my dagger to his neck.
"What are you doing here!?" I shouted. The two other men grabbed me by my arms, throwing me to the floor. My dagger skidded across the floor, giving me a slight disadvantage.
"Come on little princess, you can't deny us a little bit of fun." One man said as the others laughed.
"For your information, I am a queen! And I demand you get off me or you're going to get a dagger straight up your ass!" I screamed.
They thought I was being funny, but I was being deadly serious. Sweeping my leg under him, the man fell to the floor, and I was now on top of him. After punching him in the face, I moved onto the next man. I punched him hard in the stomach making him double over, when I then hit him over the back, so that he was too on the floor. The last man had disappeared from my sight, but I soon found him when my dagger was being held at my throat.
"No woman ever threatens me! I'll show you what happens to those who threaten me!" He hissed in my ear. The dagger was beginning to dig into my neck, making me panic. Only when the door swung open was the pressure relieved.
"GET OFF OF HER!" Dorian shouted ever so loudly. The man was pulled off of me and I was pushed into the desk, causing me to pass out.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
As I opened my eyes, a stream of light travelled through the window, lighting up the room. Sitting up, I clutched a part of my head that started to throb, before I opened my eyes properly. I felt something clasping my hand, which was another hand. Dorian was sleeping beside me, still holding tightly to my hands, though it didn't look like he would be waking up. Slowly, I took my hand out of his, trying to get to the wardrobe. He suddenly sat upright, causing me to jump.
"Oh my god, Dorian don't do that!" I gasped. He still hadn't let go.
"You shouldn't be getting up. You should be resting." He pulled me down so that I was lying on top of him.
"What happened to those men? Why did they do that?"
"I was hoping you wouldn't remember...They were very drunk, the lot of them despised me, probably why they thought doing whatever they were going to do to you; so that it wouiod hurt me. So I did whatever any decent captain would do and I had them killed."
"Oh..."
"You'll never have to worry about them again. Or any other man for that matter. By the way, have you seen any keys lying about?"
Shaking my head no, I thought about Jack again, wondering if I should ask about the screaming. Would it sound suspicious? Deciding to do it, I looked up at Dorian, who was staring at the ceiling. Taking a deep breath, I asked him.
"Dorian, you know all that screaming we heard the other night? What was it?"
"None of your concern."
"Well it should be. I am queen, I have a right to know these things."
"Scarlett," a squel escaped my lips as he flipped me onto my back, pushing my shoulders into the bed,"enough with the questions. All you ever do is ask, even if it is none of your business. So shut up and let us go back to relaxing!"
"How am I supposed to relax if I'm being attacked or shouted at?! I feel like a prisoner on here, and most definitely not your wife!"
Dorian raised his hand before it flew down onto my cheek. A stinging pain started to throb there, the heat rushing to it. I could feel the tears brimming in my eyes from both the shock and pain. Dorian got off of the bed, not phased by what he had done. Slamming the door behind him, the familiar locking sound came from it, meaning I was trapped once again.
