Hayley's POV

It's the morning after and I wake up to the sun shining through the curtains. I look over and see that Elijah has already gone. He said that he was going to go see his mother and brothers again. Slowly, I get out of bed and put my robe on. As I walk out of my room I remember that Klaus is here, and wonder if he went with Elijah. His door is slightly ajar and so I push it open quietly and walk-in. I see Klaus laying on the bed under the covers. He looks so peaceful. I guess this is the first time in a while he has finally been able to sleep and actually not have to worry about anything. Hope is at peace now, and so is he.

"I know you are there." Klaus mumbles, not opening his eyes. I smile at him.

"This is payback for walking in on me sleeping." I say lightly, thinking back to when I woke up feeling the presence of someone else in the room. It was the morning after I had bought the wolfsbane, thinking about how our baby would be better off without us. I am so glad I never did it, and he is too. I see him slightly form a smile on his face, thinking about that morning too. He finally opened his eyes and looked at me. I still don't think I will be used to seeing his face again for a while. It seemed like a dream that I thought he was here.

"What's wrong?" He raises his head and furrows his eyebrows at me. I shake my head and smile, meaning that nothing is wrong and I'm fine. He lays his head back down but continues looking at me. "I don't think I will ever get used to this. Not being alone any more."

I walk over to the bed and sit down at the edge. I look at him. "Your not alone anymore. You won't ever be alone again." He smiles a true smile and then sits up. "Do you want breakfast? I know you don't actually have to eat but it's something to do." I laugh.

"That would be lovely, little wolf." He goes and gets out of bed, and then realises he is only in his boxers. "Do you have anything I could wear?"

"Go into my room, there will be some things in there of Elijah's that will fit you. We can go get some stuff for you today if you like?"

"Thank you." He walks past me, through the door, then pops his head back round. "He does have clothes that aren't suits right?" He smirks at me and then walks off into my room.

I chuckle to myself and go into the kitchen. I think back to what I remember Klaus eating that was actual food and not blood, and I remember the time he made scotch pancakes for himself, Hope and me when he saw her again after being taken by Marcel for five years. I get to work on making the pancake batter and I just start putting them on a pan when Klaus walks in. He has one of Elijah's tracksuit bottoms on but no shirt. "Sorry, the only thing that was in Elijah's wardrobe was dress shirts." I nod my head remembering I needed to do some washing.

"It's fine, I'm making  Scotch pancakes. You like them right?" I look over to him and he nods. I turn back and pour some more of the batter on.

"Stop, your doing it wrong." He suddenly says and walks over to me.

"What do you mean I'm doing it wrong?" I look at him confused.

"You see that one? That's nearly fully burnt. That one has hardly any batter in, and then that one is massive." I try to sort it out but he just moves in my way. "Never mind, give me the mix and the spatula and sit down." I scoff at him and fold my arms. "I mean it. Away. This is a no Hayley zone." He waves his hands around the stove area. "Move." He jabs me with the other end of the spatula that doesn't have pancake on it and so I move and sit at the kitchen table.

It's nice to see him like this again. Joking around and being carefree. He doesn't have a thousand enemies coming after him anymore, he is free to enjoy himself now and have fun. Just without his daughter and the rest of his family. I sit in silence and watch as he cooks the pancakes. It's not an awkward silence, it's just peaceful. I see he is nearly done, so I stand up and get some plates. He turns and looks at me. "What did I say? No Hayley zone." He waves his arms around again and I can't help but laugh.
