here's a chapter with only fluff because i didn't wanna get murdered or sum🥴

Cora

"oh-" I laugh as he skips around the table, still singing. Naturally he's completely shirtless, a thick grass skirt wrapped around his waist. Little flowers are tucked into his curls, but he plucks one out and plants it in my hair.

"cause you're beautiful. just the way you are"

"you switched songs," I shake my head in mock disappointment as he tries to stick another flower in my hair.

"actually I remixed it," he smiles cutely, making a reference as to how I started my singing career.

Pushing my chair back I stand to embrace him in a quick hug. But when I try and pull away, I find that he's literally attached himself to me, body clinging onto mine like it's the last thing he'll ever touch. "How have you been?" I ask, gently rubbing circles into his back.

"eat first. talk later," he mumbles, still holding onto me. Finally he reluctantly lets go, instantly making me feel the chill in the air again.

As I sit down, we have a severe case of miscommunication that results in my ass on the floor.

"Jaden what the fu-"

"I was pulling the chair out for you!"

"but the chair was already pulled out?"

"yeah well-"

"well your pull out game is a little too strong"

he gapes at me for a few seconds before bursting into laughter. "I think Bryce has been rubbing off on you"

"I swear I didn't mean it that wa- mmph," he gently shoves a croissant into my mouth, effectively getting me to shut up. Something tells me he's done it to his brothers before.

"you'll never guess what I made!" he says excitedly, picking me up and placing me in the chair. I bite my tongue before I make a remark on how my legs still work, not wanting to ruin his mood. God knows the last time he was genuinely this happy.

"burgers?" I ask, knowing it's the one thing he knows how to make. I instantly regret saying anything when his face falls with disappointment.

"coco you weren't supposed to guess"

It doesn't take him long to brighten up again and place all the food on the table, humming happily as he does so. His eyes never leave mine, which makes me terrified for the safety of the food. What can I say? I've got my priorities straight.

"Jaden... I'm not going anywhere," I say wryly as he almost trips over his own feet while staring at me.

"im- im scared that if I look away..."

"Jae, leaving would require physical movement which is something I prioritize less than food. So no, I'm not leaving"

"you're not leaving me?"

"I will literally leave in two seconds if you don't feed me right now," I frown, only half joking. "a hungry Cora ranges between Thanos and a pregnant woman with mood swings"

"you're pregnant?"

"wha- just fucking feed me, Jaden," I snort out as he chuckles, pushing a plate over to me. Glancing down, I find a plate filled with onion rings, fries, and burgers. A small smile tugs at my lips when I realize what he's planned.
