( I'm going to keep this short because I dont want to spoil the whole story for you guys, it is a little short story but worth the read.)
Written in third person, the story explores the feelings of Sydney Mitchell and Cole Easton. Our protagonists have already known each other for about a year before the story starts.
Sydney Mitchell is a girl with a sharp tongue who happens to have a nearly obsessive crush on Dr. Cole Easton who taught her archaeology in her first year of university. On the night of her parents anniversary four years ago, she and Dr. Cole Easton had met the former being there to fulfil her duty as a dutiful daughter and the latter had been there because he knew he was obligated to attend parties be cause his department, the Anthropology department was alive only on the basis of the grants provided to them.
Sydney as well as Cole had both decide to unwind after such a stressful party filled with tension, separately ofcourse. But that plan doesn't quite comes into action as they both had expected. When one moment of embarrassment happens between Sydney and Cole because Sydney couldn't quite get a hold of her almost obsessive crush, it leads to years of misunderstanding and maybe love covered with a thick veil of distrust.
Now four years later, with Sydney on the verge of graduating from the university they both are forced in a situation neither wanted to be in the first place. And the biggest problem, Sydney's crush is still soaring high even after changing her majors from Anthropology to English and with Cole's belligerent behaviour towards her still at the niche, will they be able to go through summer without revealing their true feelings or will their unwilling hearts spill all that they truly want to tell each other?
