Thirty-five

"Krislene Raye. Huwag mo namang ipahalata sa akin na gustong-gusto mo nang umalis para makasama si Dylan. Nakakasakit ka ng damdamin."

Napatanga nalang si Krislene sa kaibigan, kapagkuwan ay napahagalpak sya ng tawa dahil sa sinabi nito. Masyado na ba syang halata? Well, excited naman kasi talaga sya na makasama ulit si Dylan. Syempre, now is the right time to fix things between them. But Serein, being dramatic like this, it really gives her a cringey feelings.

"Gaga huwag mo ako artehan Serein ha? Pag ba kayo ni Kuya Vaughn ang magkasama palagi nagrereklamo ba ako—"

"Stop right there Krislene Raye! Oo na sige na."

And again, she laughed while her best friend is giving her a dagger look. Nang mahimasmasan sya, tsaka lang sya nagseryoso at muling nagsalita, "Ayusin nyo 'yan ni Kuya Vaughn ha? You know, a lot of times, he's like a Father and Brother material combined. But sometimes, he's unreasonable and I know it's just you who could tolerate that attitude of him. Don't give up on him. Ikaw ang gusto ko para sa kanya. Walang iba."

Serein smiled and nodded at her. "Thanks Kraye."

Moments later, Serein's Father arrived at the living room on the second floor, where they are currently staying.

"Good evening po Tío." She politely greeted.

"Good evening too Hija." Then he turned to Serein. "Someone is outside. And it's a he. Care to tell me who that man is? Kanina ko pa napapansin na nandyan sya sa labas. Manliligaw mo ba iyon?"

Napakunot naman ang noo ni Serein at nagkatinginan silang dalawa. "Huh? Who could that be?" Then Serein mouthed at her, 'Wala kaming usapan ni Vaughn.'

She shrugged in response to her best friend.

Nakakunot pa rin ang noo ni Serein habang iniisip ng mabuti kung sino ang tinutukoy ng ama nito. Maya-maya pa ay mukhang nagka-ideya ito. "Dad, is he tall?"

"Yeah."

"White?"

"Yes."

"And handsome?"

"Ye— what did you just said anak?"

"Just answer me Dad! Is he handsome? And, did you see his eyes?"

At kahit naguguluhan, sumagot pa rin ang kanyang ama. "Yes and yes. It's blue."

Then Serein grinned, "It's her boyfriend." Sabi ni Serein sa kanyang ama habang nakaturo sa kanya.

Dylan?! Dylan is here? And what? Kanina pa daw?

"Oh." Serein's Dad said looking so relieved.

Then she curiously asked, "Tío, you said kanina pa sya sa labas. Mga anong oras nyo po sya nakita doon?"

"If I'm not mistaken, he's there for like an hour or so."

Her eyes grew wide and when she's about to speak once again, she heard her phone ringing. She literally looked at the caller and found out it was Dylan. Not only that, it's exactly 6 PM.

With that she immediately answered his call.

"Dylan."

"Hey Lene. I'm already outside of Serein's place."

Napakagat nalang sya sa ibabang labi dahil alam nyang bumabawi ito sa kanya. But not to the point na isang oras o mahigit pa itong naghintay sa kanya. Dylan is really doing his best to make it up to her and be a better version of himself.

"Give me a minute. Magpapaalam lang ako sa kanila."

"Alright take your time Lene."

When the call ended, she immediately stood up and bid her goodbye to Serein and her Father before she hurriedly went out of the house.
