Twenty-five

"You don't have a flight today?" Dylan asked as soon as he gets out of the room since he saw his Brother holding a bottle of scotch.

"Later at midnight." Denver said while pouring scotch in an empty rocks glass.

"Then why the fuck are you here drinking? You have a flight later!" Sermon ni Dylan sa kapatid pero tinawanan lang sya nito habang iniaabot sa kanya ang isang baso ng scotch.

"Relax Kuya. I won't drink that much. Let's toast."

At wala nang nagawa si Dylan kundi pagbigyan ang kapatid sa gusto nito. They toast together before Denver started drinking his scotch, bottoms up.

"I actually just want to check up on you if you're sulking here but it turns out, you're not which is really surprising." Denver said before pouring another one on his rocks glass.

"I thought it was Rae?" Denver asked. "R-A-E, to be exact." He pointed out.

Dylan drank from his glass before he answered his Brother, "A change of heart."

At pinagkatitigan sya ng kanyang kapatid. "I know you Kuya. For a long time, you didn't give up on Rae even if you know she's already taken by your friend, Santillan. So what really happened? Can you enlighten me? I know how serious you are in keeping your promise."

Then Dylan smiled making Denver a bit surprised. "I fell in love Bud."

Denver blinked while looking at his Brother. It's really new to him seeing his Brother looks really happy. Noon kasi, kahit anong pagkausap nya dito, gusto pa rin nitong tuparin ang pangakong binitawan nito sa kababata nito. At kung ano pa ang hindi nya mapaniwalaan ng lubos, his Brother, telling him that he's already inlove.

"Since when?" Denver asked his Brother full of curiosity.

Then Dylan sat on the high stool just beside his brother before he explained, "I didn't know when it exactly happened. But I met her during New Year's eve, when Rae invited me to celebrate with them. Then we hang out a couple of times. I get to know her better. She became special to me that I don't want to hurt her because of me, being a motherfucker. And I bet you know what I mean. But then I wake up one day, I wanted to break free. I wanted to be happy. I realized that I like her and that liking leads to falling inlove."

Pinagkatitigan ni Denver ang kapatid nya na may matamis na ngiti habang nakatitig sa mga nagtataasang gusali sa may glass window. But he knew better that his Brother is really looking at the ocean from not so far. At sa tingin nya, mukhang tinamaan na talaga ni kupido ang kanyang kapatid. It was his first time seeing his Brother looking so inlove with someone. Honestly, hindi nya ito nakita sa kapatid nya noong si Rae ang laman ng puso nito. But with Rae's Sister? His Brother looks like a love sick fool.

"Are you sure though?"

Dylan looked at his Brother questioningly. "What do you mean?"

Denver shrugged. "Baka lang kasi nadadala ka sa sitwasyon. Baka kasi hindi kayo magkasama ni Rae at palaging kapatid nya ang kasama mo."

At doon napaisip si Dylan sa sinabi ni Denver. Nadadala nga lang ba sya kaya nya ito nararamdaman para kay Krislene? Dahil ito ang kasama nya at hindi ang kapatid nito? But why is it that he felt pain on his chest with what his Brother said?

He was so lost in that thought when Krislene's captivating smile flashes on his mind. And instantly, he smiled just by the thought of it.

On the other hand, Denver wanted to put a sense on his brother so he could really think of it thoroughly. But upon seeing his Brother smiling like a love sick fool, right then and there, he already knew the answer.
