The Cursed Guardian

Chapter 2

Oh my gosh! I am so ashamed of myself for the errors. This is embarrassing! I'm sorry, hope you still enjoy reading this ^_^

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I was panting while I hide in a dark tunnel among the deserted road. I manage to run out of the woods and I don't know where am I.

I just keep running I lost of my direction. Those who are after me are not human. They don't have faces, instead it is just a black smoke emitting in them covered with their cloak. Their hands are made of bones.

They are horrific creatures. They pass through walls and trees. They're like shadows. I don't know how I will escape them but I'm thankful that they are out of nowhere.

Now that I am on my own, I fall down and hugged my knees. The miserable loneliness of the dark tightly embraces me whole. I can't help but think of how can I survive this? How can I live? I don't know what to do.

Maybe I'll just show myself to them and end me instantly. Well, we all die anyway. Maybe this is my time to die. I don't know how long I can run and hide from them.

Since I am all alone, with my family dead, it would be better if I'll join them soon. I cried silently at that thought. My parents always told us to strong. To never give up without fighting. But how will I win this if I am already defeated?

"Don't cry, my child." My grandma wiped my tears away. "You are strong. You will be strong 'cause you are my grandchild."

My grandma used to tell when the other child mocked me when I was a kid. Yeah, I was mocked and bullied when I was little. I used to envy my sister because she has friends to keep her company while I was a loner. I was never strong but my grandma told me that I am. I cried my misery out when I hear again the howling threat of the wind.

It's them. They are here. They find me.

I am contemplating if I should continue to run or just die here. The possibility of surviving is negative one percent but. . . . I am too scared to die. The corpses of my family surfaces in my mind. Their shrunk body. The horrified look on their faces. I shake my head, wiped my tears and dash for my life.

~ACADEMY~

"Sir, the Shallows have appeared again."

Everyone on the room gasp of what the warrior have said. Some lift their heads from the papers that they're busy reading. They looked terrified, stunned and the murmuring begun.

"Silence, Professors!" I looked back at the warrior. "Where did they show up?"

" In the northern forest at the end of town. There was a house sited at the heart of woods and a whole family was murdered. "

"Northern forest-" Northern forest? It's where Alicia resides with her family! It can't be! I looked at the Professors in front of me. They all have a knowing look. "Are you sure everyone is dead?"

"We have found a family picture of five members but we only found four corpse." He handed me the picture.

Alicia managed to live for a very long time away from the Shallows and Academy but now, the family she protected is at stake! You really can't run away from the truth.

"Where is the missing one?" He step beside me and point at the brown- haired girl standing beside Alicia. "Find her and bring her here. Without the knowledge of everyone."

"I will gather my team now and begin the search."

After he excused his self, the Professors begin to ask questions.

"What is happening, Chancellor Barnabee?" Asked Professor Rose Ludwig. She is the closest friend of Alicia in her youth and when she is still here. "I thought the Shallows had been defeated long time ago?"

"Or is that what we believed?" Asked Professor Rufous Ravenous

"We shouldn't let our security down from since then. We were so sure this peace will last forever!" Exclaimed Professor Cheena Schwitz

"Silence, Professors!" They all press their lips and focused on me. "Breathe in," they followed my order "breathe, out. Now, blow a deep breathe."When they are all calm I continue on my words.

" Now, first, we must not panic and be calm for the sake of our warriors. They must not know about this until the right time comes. And for the trainee warriors not to get worried. Seal your lips for this matter and words you hear here will not slip out of the corridors. Secondly, we must find the descendant of Alicia. We must make sure of her security and train her to be a Warrior Guardian."

"But what if, the child has no extraordinary ability?" Asked Professor Ravenous seriously. "Professor Alicia's spirit Guardian was killed during the great war of the Shallows."

It is true. Alicia's Guardian sacrificed her soul for the sake of Academy and for the ordinary humans' protection. After that war, she left the walls of Academy and decided to lived outside to treasure her family.

Her Spirit Guardian, the Great Erza Of Lions, is our strongest spirit Guardian that time. She forced to  use the forbidden sword of the Great Gryphon. She can wield the cursed sword because she was a lion, the other half of the sword. Since it is the cursed sword of the Gryphon, only the Gryphon can wield its real power, it caused her life.

But before she let go of her last breath, she cast her spiritual power to seal the Shallows from their grave. That is how Alicia became an ordinary woman. Without her Spirit Guardian, she can not fight again her battles liked the old days.

She knows it was crucial for her to leave the Academy. Even though she became a normal human, she was still a  Guardian Warrior and she is not safe outside because we still have some enemies trying to kill Guardians. Killing a Guardian will give you an extra amount of power and weaklings needs power to emerge from the dark.

But she want to continue her life with the love of her life, so she goes back and made herself a family. A family away from the chaos and hard life of Guardians. A normal family to love and care with. A family she can  cherish.

But now all her sacrifices is wiped away from the shore and her happy family is eliminated, we must continue her legacy. To protect her family. But we must tell to her only living family the truth about Alicia.

We must also know if she inherited the heart of a Guardian Warrior because if the Spirit Guardian of the chosen human was dead, there is a possibility that the extraordinary ability will not be passed down the generation.

"We shall have knowledge of that Professor when we have the girl."

"But what if she has not?"

"We must still protect the child." I turn to Professor Schwitz. "Go and search for clues in the Shallow graveyard plains on how they managed to break the seal."

Professor Schwitz nods as she take her leave but she was halted by Professor Ludwig.

"I'll go with her, Chancellor, if you may permit me. I've witness how the Great Erza sealed that dark castle grounds."

"Permission granted, Professor. This meeting is over."

Professor Schwitz and Professor Ludwig went their way as the other Professors went out of the Council Room until it was only I and Professor Ravenous left.

"I will keep an eye on her."

I don't know if Professor Ravenous is up to something, but I hope it is for a good cause. He may have a rivalry of power with Alicia back then but they respected each others strength and bravery as a great warrior.
