"Stop it!"
I stand firm on my feet in front of the crying girl curled on the ground. I was on my way when I saw other children, same of my age, kicking her.
"Get yourself out of here." Cedric yelled at me. He is the leader of the bullies in our school. Me too was bullied by him. They often pours a cola on my bag, get my food and they always let me clean their trash.
"Maybe, she wants to be bitten too." The three boys started laughing. I clenched my fist. I know this is coming. The girl, still crying, tug my feet.
"You can leave me. They will hurt you too."
I shake my head and crouch down to her.
"Why are they beating you?"
"They want to have this necklace." She showed me the necklace hanging on her neck. It was golden with a circle pendant. Inside the circle, an infinity sign was carved. "My mother gave this to me before she died. I don't want to surrender it to them."
I really hate Cedric for claim what is not his. The necklace is so important to her! I stand again and face them.
"Step back or we will beat you too."
"You're a thief. You want to have her necklace!" I shouted at them.
"What did you say?" His eyes becomes darker and frowned at me. "You dare to fight me?"
He pushed me and fall down on the ground. Then kick me hard. I wince in pain.
"Go, ask for help."
The girl beside me stand to run but the other two boys blocks her. I stand up and push them. She run immediately.
"How dare you!"
Then they started kicking me. I was curled lying on the ground, protecting my stomach. All I can do is to cry while I try to avoid their kicks. Cedric gave me a final blow on my arms.
"That's what you get for messing with us, STUPID!"
They are laughing as they leave. I stand up, wiping my tears and walked home. My whole body is aching but I, still, can walk. My grandma came rushing to me when she saw me from the window. Her face was worried as she scans me from head to toe.
"What happened, child?" She ask lovingly while caressing my cheeks. I hug her and cry out my pain.
"Hush, now." She gently pushed me and lift my chin so I can look in her eyes. "Tell me what happened."
I told her about the girl I saw between my sobs. How Cedric and his friends beat me too when let the girl run to save herself and her necklace. I also told her that her that the necklace is beautiful.
"Don't cry, my child." She wipe my tears. "You are strong because you save the girl. You did not let them have the necklace. You protected her and her mother's memory. You are strong, remember your my grandchild."
I was dreaming about that incident when I was a child. It is the first time I was so determined to save the girl. I did not regret it even when Cedric bullied me more than usual since that day. It is also the day that I let myself believed that I was strong like my Grandma told me. I felt a tear slipped my eyes. Someone wiped them. I immediately open my eyes.
I was in a room with a chandelier on the ceiling. I am not in a hospital. The room wall was painted white but the surroundings is far from a hospital. The bed I'm in is huge with a floral black mattress and a floral red blanket having the same design as the mattress. There was an elegant bed table with a lamp shade and an old woman sitting on a chair beside me. She looks elegant and classy despite her age.
