The Cursed Guardian

~ Ravenous ~

As soon as I walked out of the Council Room, I headed straight to the garden of the Academy. At the end of the garden there was secret door at the far end of the wall covered with vines. I look around to see if there is anyone other than me. When I was sure that it is only I, I open the door and step out of the Academy walls. I was greeted by the trees standing tall in the forest. 

I walk further until I saw the cave. I'm not sure if he is here but I know that he will eventually came here, since this is his comfort place since his parents passed away. He doesn't want to live inside the walls of Academy because he blame us for what happened to his parents. He sneaked out but he comes here once a month to visit his parents grave.

A smile crept in my face when I saw him lying on the cold floor of the cave. His eyes are shot close but I know he's not asleep, he is just pretending. I walk towards him until  I'm right in front of him.

"Cut the act, Lucas. You can't fool me."

His eyes are still closed but a scowl was drawn in his face. He doesn't want my presence here.

"What do you want?"

"I just want to know if your fine."

Finally, he open his eyes and stand on his feet. We are now face to face. This kid grow real fast, now he is nearly towering me. Well, it's been twenty years.

"Stop it" he said sourly "I don't care if you care or not. It doesn't matter."

The death of his parents really changed him. We used to be closed but, now, it's the opposite.

"If you have nothing important to tell me, I'll leave now."

He starts to walked outside the cave. I sigh for his arrogance. He should at least respect me a little. But then, I can't blame the child.

"The Shallows suddenly appeared. You're not safe outside. They killed a whole family a day ago."

He continue his phase, not even looking back as he talk.

"It is NOT  your problem, it's mine. And I DON'T GIVE A DAMN CARE."

"They are responsible for your parents death."

He stop from his phase. I know what he is thinking right now. "It is a reckless decision to face them alone."

He spit to the ground.

"I'm strong enough to defeat them." He tilted his head over his shoulder. "And you're the one who let  my parents be killed." Then he go.

I know he is strong. He is a Guardian Warrior after all. But he's using his extraordinary ability to avenge his parents. He don't want to be tied down by the Academy because his will is against the Academy's law. And like I said, he blames us. Not to mention, he got the strongest Spirit Guardian. The Queen of the Sky.

~Raeco ~

"Any clue of her presence, White Fang?"

My Spirit Guardian, in his human form, shakes his head. He is a great alpha wolf. In his animal form, he is a huge black silver eyed wolf with slit of gold in his eyes. In his human form, just like now, he has a silky white hair that reach his waist and same eyes. He is wearing a white kimono with a black fur drape from his shoulder to his ankle.

"Maybe she runs into the other side of the forest. We are clear here."

As he finished talking, Caren shows up riding her Spirit Guardian animal form. A magnificent white flaming horse. The flames does not affect her, but enemies will surely turn to ashes instantly.

"In the old tunnel in our nine o'clock. One kilometer away from here. I sensed a Shallows presence their." She glances to White Fang. "Hi, there handsome!"

White Fang just give her a dead look. I look at him and nod. He shift to his animal form. I ride on his back and we galloped away to the West.

When we arrived at the tunnel, all of my team members are already inspecting the place as they wander around to find some clues. We sense that there is not only three Shallows that is after her. There's a lot as we sense a strong presence of them here.

How did they come to existence?

We don't know that, yet. The Professors are investigating on it. All we know is that the Shallows are long gone for three generations, but now they suddenly appeared with chaos in their sleeves. And this girl we are searching for must know something about this occurrence.

"I can smell great fear" says White Fang as he shift to his human form. "Shallows, indeed, and blood."

"We saw footsteps going straight forward to the end of this tunnel." Shaun sigh, the Great Grizzly's Guardian Warrior. "Man, how can we find someone who keeps on running?"

"Of course she is into run!" Exclaimed Caren as she mount off her Guardian's animal form. "It's her life at stake! Are you expecting her to stay put and be killed right away?"

"Alright, let's head to the small village at the end of this tunnel." Toki said to stop the kindling fight between the two. He is the Tiger's Warrior.

"Now, let us focus on our mission. Drop the nonsense fight, you two."

~ At the Shallow Castle ~

"I can't sense the Great Erza's power here." Professor Ludwig said as we get near the place.

It is true. Since, the Great Lion Guardian sealed the Shallows here, there is a strong aura of power lingering around this place but now, not even a single amount of power is here.

"There is something I sense that I can't explain" Professor Schwitz said as she looks around.

"I thought you did not notice that. It is something spiritual but also mundane."

"Then, it is not one of us. A human who bears a spiritual power."

We looked at each other as something made sense in our minds. We are thinking the same possibility.

"It can't be!" Professor Ludwig shakes her head.

"Let's hurry up!"

When we set foot on the Castle ground, the wide gate's lock is broken. We push ourselves in, and we confirmed our suspicion when we saw what is in the center of the ground near the stairs going to the entrance of the Castle.

A lifeless body of a priestess laying on the ground, a big circle was drawn around her. Her body turned into bones already and there is a cup of blood in front of her. Blood was splashed everywhere.

We cover our nose as we can't take the smell of blood, especially a sacred blood.

"This is an ancient dark ritual of purification." Professor Ludwig said.

"But this is a forbidden exercise! Who have the nerve to do this?"

Performing this kind of ritual can cost your life if you are not strong enough to fight the powerful seal. Great Erza is the other part of the Cursed Guardian! Someone who did this really have the guts to sacrifice his or her life!

"Execution of priestess," Professor Ludwig said as she take the priestess's bones. "This happened before."

"It can't be Professor, we have already taken care of that twenty years ago. It's impossible!"

"Did we really took care of it?"

Now, we have more than one problem to deal with. The mystery of the Shallows existence, the family of Professor Alicia murdered, her granddaughter's safety and the killed priestess. Like the same incident twenty years ago.

"We need to inform Chancellor Barnabee and we need to discuss this with Professor Ravenous."
