The Cursed Guardian

Chapter 17

~ Auryn ~

Everyone was rushing out of the Academy.

I got bored waiting for Chancellor Barnabee in his office. I decided to go and wait for him in the garden but it seems that every warrior was in a hurry.

They are in their armor. They look like they are out for a fight. Does something bad happened outside the Academy?
I try to stop one of the Warrior. 

"What is happening?"

She looks at me with frowned forehead. Her look is saying ' seriously, you don't know'. I really don't know what is going on.

"The village was under attack."

Then she went off right after she answered my question. Village? There was no village  near the Academy. It was already desolate because of me.

Then it hit me. Raeco said the villagers was transferred to another place. Oh, no!

Is that the village they were talking about? Rheena and Rino. Their friends.

Then my feet moved on their own and I run out of the Academy. I thought they were safe already. It seems that when it comes to the Shallows, there is no safe place to hide.

I heard someone calling for me. I turn around and it was Rose.

"Where are you going?"

"I am going to the village!"

Her eyes widen. She quickly get her feet on me. She grab me by the arm and gently drag me back to the Academy.

"You can't go there. It is not safe!"

"Why can't I?" I try to pull my arms away from her. "I need to go there. The Shallows are there!"

"Exactly why you can't go there!" She stop on her feet and I did the same. She is facing me now. "Your safety comes first!"

I understand that she is just concerned about me but the villagers helped me when I needed it. And they need help now.

"I can't just stay here and be safe if they are out there in danger." I said to her calmly. I need to convince her. "My conscience will kill me if something happened to them. Please, let me go and help them."

"You are not yet strong enough to fight them. You might got hurt. Or worst killed." She cups my face. "I am just concerned about you."

"I know. But" I look straight into her eyes with determination, "I want to protect them. I put them in that situation by helping me. It is my fault that the Shallows are after them. I must protect them."

Her expression becomes soft and she breathe deeply. She looks at me in the eyes. Searching the genuineness in my words. If I was really determined. Then she, smiled.

"Okay. You can go if your with me."

"Thank you." I hold both of her hands. "Promise I will not let my self be hurt."

"Let's go!" Then a magnificent winged horse appeared in front of us. It is a white Pegasus! Her Spirit Guardian. "We can get there faster if we will ride my Spirit Guardian."

She mounted on the horse and pulls me up. I was contemplating on how can I ride on a flying horse. I'm afraid of heights!

I hug her tightly when the flight was off. My eyes were shut close. I don't want to open them. I imagined my self looking down and I almost pass out.

And if she notice that I'm afraid up in the air, she might maneuver the horse back to the Academy. No! The villagers are my priority right now. Not my fears.
