ICE CREAM?

After school I waited by Ronnie's car with Mia and Josh. They were arguing about something useless when James Pinault walked our way. "Hey Hope." He said as he stopped to stand before me. "Oh, hey James, how are you?" I asked. I've talked to him a couple times before but nothing serious so I wondered why he came over to me.

"I am fine, thank you." He said while fidgeting with his hands. I gave him a small smile. "I actually wanted to ask you something." I looked at him. He seemed a bit nervous. "Sure, go ahead." I said, eager to know what he had to say.

"Do you maybe want to grab some ice cream with me this Thursday?" He said very unexpectedly. "Ow, uhm Yeah sure why not?" He looked relieved. "Okay I will just wait for you by my car then." He said. "Okay." I nodded. "Sounds good to me." He gave me a wide smile.

After that he walked back to his friends who gave him high-fives and patted his back. I smiled and shake my head. Boys. I turned around to see Mia and Josh staring at me with an open mound. "I told you so." She squealed. I laughed. "Stop it, its no big deal." Josh and Mia shared a knowing look. "Okay girl, we will come over Wednesday after school to help you pick an outfit." Josh said.

"Yes, because it needs to be extra cute but also practical because of school." Mia pipes in. "Precisely, its not like you can change because that would be to extra for just ice cream." Josh spoke again. I just stared at them in horror. "Guys, it is just ice cream I think I will be fine with picking out an outfit." Veronica joined us. "Outfit for what?" she asked.

Oh god here we go.

"Hope here has been asked out by James." Mia said smugly. Ronnie gasped. "So, you were right then!" Mia happily nodded. I shake my head. It was sweet they cared so much for my personal live but sometimes it was a bit much. "Anyways I can't Wednesday. I have to work." Veronica just looked at me. "What time does your shift end?" she asked me. "About seven." I answered unsure. "We will see you at eight than." Josh said. I looked at them. "Guys you really don't have to." Mia gave me I side hug. "We know, but we want to." I hugged her back and gave in. "Okay, thanks guys. I appreciate it."

After I got home, I grabbed some food and decided to get some homework done. Its only the second week of school and it feels like I'm in the middle of my exams or something. When I was finally done -several hours later – I walked to the fridge to get something to eat only to find it completely empty. "Fuck me." I sighed. I could just order a pizza but I knew that my parents would be too busy at the moment to go shopping.

I grabbed some money from the wallet we keep for groceries and a bag. "I feel like the perfect child right now." I laughed to myself. The grocery store was just two blocks away so I decided to just walk. I wouldn't buy a lot. Just enough for about three days. That wouldn't be so hard to carry.

Okay so I was wrong. Food for three days is heavy. Maybe I also bought some extra snacks but we don't talk about that here. I groaned as I set the bag down on the ground. It felt like I was walking in the fucking Sahara with a humongous backpack. "I am pathetic." I sighed.

"Hey Hope what are you doing here?" I suddenly heard. I looked up and saw Isaac walking towards me. I wiped my sweaty hands on my pants. "Just getting some shopping done." I answered with a cheerful voice. I saw an opportunity here. "How about yourself?" I looked into his eyes.

"Oh, I just dropped my sister off at a friends house." He said while turning around to point at the house. "So, you are free now?" I asked. "Yeah why?" he looks at me expectantly. "Could you please help me carry this bag to my house? Its really heavy. My house is only two blocks away." He laughed. "Yeah, no problem, lead the way.

He picked up the bag and we started to walk towards my house. "So, tell me." I started. "Are you into Mia?" his cheeks tinted pink which looked adorable with his red hair. "I mean she is gorgeous." He said. "But she is also clearly not into me." His eyes looked downwards. I felt for him. "I don't think that's true." I spoke.

"She just doesn't know you that well. I don't think she can judge." He looked up again. "So, you think I still have a change after today?" he asked hopeful. "Yeah sure why not? It wasn't the best way to go about things. She doesn't like that sort of thing. She is more into the natural thing. Just be yourself, don't try to be anyone else and you will be totally fine."

We reached my house and we stopped as he put the bag down. "Thank you Hope. He said looking sincere. "Don't worry about it." I looked back at my house. "Thank you for your help. Do you want to come in for something to drink?" he checked the time. "Oh no that's alright, I should probably go home and get some homework done." He said. I laughed at that. "well good luck, you will definitely need it." He laughed as well and scratched his head. "I think so too. We said our goodbyes and I walked inside with the bag.

As I walked in, I could hear my mother stress. "We don't even have anything to eat, I'm such a bad mom." She said. I rolled my eyes. She is so funny. "Hey mom." I stepped into the kitchen and gave my mother a hug. "Please tell your mother she is not a bad mom." I heard my dad say. I turned around and gave him a hug as well.

"Hey dad, and you know I have told her a thousand times. She is just to stubborn." He laughed. "That she is." He walked towards her and hugger her from behind as he planted a kiss on my moms' cheek. She immediately started blushing and I smiled. I want a marriage like my parents have.

After all these years they still love each other just as much as in the beginning. If not more. Their passion for each other never died either. They both work very hard but they always manage to make time for me and each other. What they have is true love. And I want the same. I placed the bag with groceries on the counter. "Look what I brought with me." My moms smile brightened the room. "Thank you, sweetie, you shouldn't have." I just blew a kiss her way. "Ill be up in my room." I grabbed a croissant and made my way upstairs.
