The time went by fast and soon it was time for lunch. I grabbed my books and started to walk to the cafeteria. I was really tired since I hadn't slept much last night. Out of nowhere Mia popped up. Mia is like the school's gossiper. She knows everything about everyone. If you just went to the toilet to take a big shit, she would know. Most people seem to think that she is a bitch, but she is actually really nice and sweet. Only if you wrong her friends or family, she turns into a bitch but who wouldn't?
''Hey Hope'' Mia said. ''Hey girl, how are you?'' I answered. ''I've been good. just relaxed the whole summer on the yacht of my mom's boyfriend.'' Her mom changed her boyfriends like every other month. It must be hard for Mia to adjust all the time, but she never complains about it and always looks for the positive things in the situation.
''Danm, I wish I had a yacht!'' I laughed. She smiled at me.
''well maybe you can come with me sometime.'' She said. I turned sideways to look her in the eye. ''I'd really like that.'' See? She is so nice! People should really treat her better.
We arrived at our usual lunch table in the cafeteria and sat down. Josh and Veronica where already there. ''hey guys'' I said.
''Hey'' they answered.
Mia looked behind her and giggled.''why are you laughing?'' I asked with a lifted eyebrow.Mia giggled even harder. Josh, Ronnie and I were now all looking at her in curiosity. After she was finally done with laughing, she looked at me. ''I need to tell you something'' she said.
''I didn't know if it was true, but I heard some rumours about James. Apparently, he seems to have taken a liking in you.''
I choked on my water.
''you must be kidding! There is no chance in hell!''
Let me introduce you to James Pinault. The school's golden boy. He is a member of the popular kids' group. He is the football teams second quarterback
(Blade is the first quarterback) and literally everyone knew him. All the girls wanted to date him, but he was rarely ever seen with a girl. He had a few girlfriends over the years, but he wasn't a player. He has been single for a little over 8 months. Don't ask me how I know that...okay I'm not stalking him I swear. People just talk about him al the time and when your friends with the gossip queen you just know these kinds of things.
Anyways let's get back.
Josh patted my back till I stopped coughing.
Mia continued talking. ''first, I thought it was just a false rumour, but I've been keeping an eye on him and he is looking at you like all the time!'' I look behind me and saw that he was indeed looking at me. But that doesn't prove anything he could also just wonder why the frick is that girl coughing so weirdly.
Ronnie looked at me with amuse. ''is it so hard for you to believe a guy could actually like you?'' she asked. I rolled my eyes. ''no not a guy, he is freaking James Pinault. He could never like me! He would go for a different type of girl.''
She sighed.''and what type is that exactly?''
I frowned. ''well the perfect type of course, someone like him but then the girl version.''
Josh made a strange face.''Hun that would make her his sister.''
I sighed with annoyance.''come on you know what I mean.''
''no, we don't'' Josh said. Ronnie grabbed my hand
''Hope, you are amazing. You truly are the best person on earth. You are always kind, you make me laugh, you make me cry when I need to. You are there for me when I need you. You are great. And I'm so glad that James sees that to.''
I looked at her with tears in my eyes. ''that was so beautiful'' I said. She laughed. ''oh, come here you cry baby.'' And she pulled me in an embrace. Then the bell rang, and our next classes began.
Mine was English and after that I had Biology which I hate.
As I took my seat in Englisch class I looked around the room. I always enjoyed Englisch, I mean it definetly wasn't my favorite subject because we get a lot of homework but other than that I quitte liked it. It felt really weird to be back after the summer. I always have that in the first few weeks that everything at school seems abnormal. I guess I'm just to used to be reading a book at the edge of the pool, soaking in the sun with a drink by my side. Oh god I already miss the summer.
suddenly I heard a loud thud besides me that awoke me from my daydream. I looked up only to see Nick Reyes trying to not fall of his chair. I was a bit shocked that he sat next to me. Most of the time him and the rest of his group sit in the back while I sit in the second row. He catches me staring and send a smile my way.
"hey I hope it's alright if I sit here, I really have to pay attention and I can't do that with those dombo's" he said gesturing his hand towards the group of boys that were acting as if they were monkeys. I looked back at Nick. "No it's totally fine." At that moment the teacher walked in which I was grateful for because I'm not so great in small talk.
