Hope's pov

I close the door behind me and slide down. I don't cry. I don't think I have any tears left. He told me that he has feelings for me. Well he suggested it. But how can I believe him? Just yesterday he was flirting the entire evening with another girl. He told me himself that he doesn't believe in love so even if he has feelings for me, we could never be more. We could never be what I want to be. So, I ended it. Before I ended up being even more hurt. I don't even know if that's possible because everything hurts.

My heart the most of all. Luckily, I didn't love him yet, right?

The next few weeks drag by very slowly for the both of them. They still shared the same friends so they had to endure each other during lunch and group outings but they never talked much. When they did talk, they were at each other's throats just like before they became friends. They did their best to hurt the other one.

Blade looked like his usual charming self, chatting with the ladies and occasionally sneaking off with one. It hurt Hope to witness it but she told herself that it was her own fault. Still it stung that he moved on so quickly which made her in turn wonder if she made his feelings for her up in her mind. What she didn't see was that he wasn't even remotely interested in the girls that he talked to. He didn't go out as much as before and he closed himself off to everyone, even his closest friends.

Hope spent much more time with her friends. The one she talked to most of all was Cameron. He understood her and could make her laugh but also knew when to be quiet. Blade saw the two of them always laughing together and even though he knew that Hope had been lying to him about using him to get closer to Cameron it wasn't fun to watch.

Cody and Hope also had become closer friends. They shared a lot of common ground and he was always there for her. He was the only one that knew what happened between her and Blade. He had told her many times to man up and go tell Blade how she really felt but she was too scared. She knew she had ruined her chances. If she even had one to begin with.

Thanksgiving had passed and it was now the last week of school before winter break.

Hope's pov

the bell rang and I slowly walked to the cafeteria. Normally I would be happy that it was finally lunch time but lately I haven't been that hungry. It was harder and harder to watch Blade flirt with all those girls right in front of her. Not that she would admit it to his asshole self but it hurts, a lot. Then again it was her own fault. She kept repeating to herself that they had no chance anyways but it didn't help.

When she reached the cafeteria, she grabbed a tray and stood in the lunch line. An arm swung around her shoulders and she looked up to find Cody. "Hey sweetheart." He lightheartedly spoke with a smile on his very handsome face. she gave a tired smile back. "Hey, where were you during history?" she asked. He was her partner since she sat next to him but since he wasn't there, she had to do all of the homework on her own which she hated. He grins as if he knew what she thought and shrugs his shoulders. "Just had something to take care of."

She rolls her eyes. Even though they had spent a lot of time in the past month she still didn't know a lot about him. she knew more than anyone else but still. He could be very mysterious if he wanted to. They stepped forward when it was their turn and Hope grabbed some fries, an apple and a granola bar for later. She paid and gave Cody a hug as goodbye. He flicked her nose and walked away while she narrowed her eyes at him.
