"Check on me because?"

Nanatili ang tingin ko sa kanya. Huminga siya ng malalim saka nagiwas ng tingin bago ipinagpatuloy ang pagkain sa desserts na nasa harap niya.

"What? Cai, anong sinasabi mo? You wanted to check on me?" I repeated.

He just shrugged, avoiding my questions. Para naman 'tong nangjojoke!

"I'm fine alright. I have long accepted that not everyone will like me.. so thanks for wanting to check on me, pero i'm okay talaga. I really am!"

I even raised my right hand to swear.

"Alright.."

I caught him smiled as he bite the cupcakes.

Hindi na nga lang kami nakapag usap pa dahil nagkaroon na ng wedding ceremony. Niña then joined our table. Umisod si Tanya para makaupo si Niña sa tabi ko. We're both wearing a satin gown but with different style. Mas revealing ang kanya dahil tube top.

"Anong meron? Bakit nandito sila?" She whispered behind me.

Iyon ang naging usapan namin ni Niña pauwi. I told her how Caly and Cai ended up on our table and she seemed to enjoy my kwentos. Nagkwento din siya tungkol sa isang senior na naroon din sa venue.

Halos sumobra ang naging bonding namin ni Niña after Daddy and Tita Nada's wedding because they left the country for their honeymoon. Christmas break na sila umuwi para makapag celebrate din kami.

I made sure that I sent my message exactly twelve in the midnight. Napangiti ako kahit pa alam ko namang hindi siya magrereply kaagad.

Our conversation kinda improved. He reply at times and that's fine. Sa school naman, okay na ako na nababati ko siya kapag nagkikita kami. I don't really want to dwell on our interaction that much especially at school. Gusto ko padin kasi ng peaceful na semester.

And then, my senior high began. Things started to become different. Actually at first, the only thing I look forward is that I am now a senior in the theater club. Sobrang naenjoy ko na ang pangatlong taon ko sa theater. My seniors already graduated so I am only left with Yvonne and Clara. Sina Kuya Lay, Kobe and Charles, paminsan minsan nalang dumadaan sa theater dahil college na sila.

"Attention to all Grade Eleven and Grade Twelve members of Theater and Music Club, please come to the auditorium now. Attention to all Grade Eleven  and Grade Twelve members of Theater and Music Club, please come to the auditorium now. Thank you."

Kunot noo akong bumaling kay Amanda nang may pagtatanong. Biglaan 'yun at nandito kami ngayon sa library dahil free cut namin.

"Anong meron?" Tanong ni Marj na napatigil sa binabasa niyang novel.

"Hindi ko alam. Wala namang announcement sa amin kanina.." Si Amanda.

"Is it about the founding anniversary? Bakit Theater at Music club lang?" I asked pa while starting to put my things on my bag.

"Baka may performance kayo?" Si Andrea.

Napanguso ako at napaisip. Wala namang sinasabi sa amin noong nakaraan kaya nakakabigla ang announcement. Amanda and I left our friends in the library as we go to the auditorium. Pagdating namin doon, halos kasabay lang namin ang iba pang grade eleven. I was searching for my club mates but they aren't here yet so kay Amanda muna ako tumabi.

The auditorium is slowly getting full by the club members. Marami din kaming nakabatian na naging close na dahil sa iba't ibang play na dinaluhan for the past years.
