60-"Why wont it break"

It was late at night and Ron was still in bed. I heard Hermione cooking earlier but it smelled.. not the best.

"How bad is he?" I heard Harry ask. "He'll be alright in a few days, Hopefully if we could take him to Hogwarts, Madam Pomfrey-," Hermione stops talking.

I look over to Ron who started to get up, "Ron don't strain yourself," I said but he didn't listen to instead I helped him up.

"No, don't! Don't say his name," Ron said. Harry and Hermione turn to see us, "it's taboo- you know who's name, that's how they track people now, it's how they found us in the cafe that night," Ron said.

"How do you know?" Harry asked. "I overheard a bloke from the enforcement office talking about it at the ministry, Blimey, what's that smell?" Ron said.

"Dinner," I hear Hermione say. "Not bloody likely, smells like something Ginny would cook," Ron said. I nudged Ron a bit making him look at me, I gave him a small glare.

"Tea?" Hermione asked. Ron nodded and I help him to the table. I notice Ron finally notices the sling Hermione had put on him and looks at Hermione with guilt in his face.

Harry hands Ron the locket and I see and Ron's eyes open, he hands me the locket and I feel it ticking.

"I know, I feel it too, it's like it has a tiny metal heart, it's like it's-," Harry said.

"Alive," Ron finished Harry's sentence. "I hate it, it's like he'a here with us," Hermione said. "That's why we're going to kill it," Harry said.

"We can start tomorrow, It's too dark to be outside right now, plus Ron needs his rest," I said. "I've rested enough y/n," Ron said.

"I said you need bloody rest Ronald, you're not straining yourself, you have to focus on getting better," I said glaring at Ron.

"I agree with y/n Ron, you need rest," Hermione said looking at him worried. Ron eventually gave in and went to rest.

I stayed next to Ron's side just in case anything happened in the middle of the night. "He's going to be alright you know," I heard Hermione say.

"I know, but I can't risk anything else happening to him, he's literally been like a brother ever since his family let me live with them," I said.

"He was the first one to ask me about the dad situation when it came to the twins, he didn't think of me differently, instead he just said he'd be the best uncle to my kids, even when I was giving birth and I was screaming at him like a mad man, he went and got all of you, it might have been out of fear that I would kill him if he didn't since I kept threatening him but Ron has been there for me," I added.

I looked at Hermione, "Ron is great isn't he," she said. I nodded to agree before she said goodnight and went to bed. I stayed in the chair besides Ron's bed.

In the morning we quickly got to destroying the lock. I helped Ron out, leaning him on tree before heading towards Harry and Hermione.

I watch as Harry goes first, "Dissendium!" He yells, we watch the locket spin but nothing happens other than that.

"Incendio!" Hermione yelled, the locket bursts into flames but the flames eventually get out out and the locket is still whole.

"Expulso!" I yell, I watch as the tree stump it was on top of explodes but the locket is still whole.

"Confringo!" I heard Hermione yell, everything below the locket breaks away but the locket stays intact.

Harry begins to continue throw spells at the locket, but nothing happens.

"Why won't it break?!" Harry said in frustration.

"It's angry," Ron says. Harry picks up the locket and puts it around his neck. "What are you doing?" Hermione asked.

"We have to keep it safe until we find out how to destroy it," Harry said. "I can put it in my bag," Hermione said but Harry shook his head.

"Seems strange, mate,Dumbledore sends you off to find all these Horcruxes, but doesn't tell you how to destroy them, Doesn't that bother you?" Ron said.

Harry looks at Ron for a while before staring at the locket.

"Come on Ron, let's go back to the tent," I said helping Ron. I walked him to the tent and he sat next to the radio and turned it on.

Harry and Hermione had gone the opposite direction from us.

"I miss them...our family," Ron said looking at me. "I know Ron, I miss them too, I miss my kids..... and him," I said.

"I don't get what you see in him y/n, I know you love him but if a day ever comes when he tries to hurt you, or the other two I can't promise I won't fight back," Ron said.

"I know..." I said. Harry and Hermione come back into the tent after some time.

"I thought it stopped," Hermione said. I watch as Harry shakes his head, "you can't keep letting him in Harry, Dumbledore himself said it," Hermione said.

"It's not a candle I can blow out Hermione, it always burns even if it's just a flicker, can you understand that?" Harry said.

"Did you see something again Harry?" I asked. He nodded, "tell me what you saw,"Hermione said.

"He found him, Vol-," he stops mid sentence. "You know who, he's found Gregorvitch," Harry said.

"The wand maker?" Hermione asked. "Yes, how do you know?" Harry asked.

"Viktor got his wand from him, most of durmstrang students did, but what does he have to do with you know who?" Hermione asked.

"He wants something from him, I don't know what it is but it's as if his life depended on it," Harry replied.

Harry looks over at Ron and the radio, I glare at him before shaking my head.

"Don't, it comforts him," Hermione said. "Well it sets my teeth on edge, what's he expecting to hear? Good news," Harry said.

"I think he just hopes he doesn't hear bad news, it gets him through the day, plus if you do anything I'm sure y/n will fight back," Hermione said looking over to me. I see Harry look over to me as well and I nod to what Hermione said.

"And what gets you through the day?" He asks Hermione. "We've all made sacrifices, Harry," Hermione said.

I once again see the same reaction she had as to when we were in the cafe.

"How long until he can travel," Harry asked. "I don't know, It takes time, I'm doing all I can," Hermione said.

"You're not doing enough," Harry said. "Harry!" I yell glaring at him after what he just told Hermione.

"Take it off," Hermione said looking at Harry. Harry looks at her as she points at his neck.

"Take it off, now!" She said. I watch as Harry takes it off and hands it to Hermione who puts it on.

"We'll take turns, all of us," Hermione said.

Harry went to the table to think of more ways to destroy the locket before heading to bed. I finally went to go get rest after seeing Ron getting better.

I didn't get much sleep after hearing almost everyone stand up and walk out, keeping my guard up all the time was getting tiring but I had to do it.

I walk outside and find Ron, "what are you doing?" I ask. He doesn't reply and I look at what he's staring at.

Harry and Hermione standing close, "you're going to have to tell her one day you know?" I said.

"What are you on about," Ron asked obviously irritated. "What you feel for Hermione,It's okay Ron, I get it," I said patting his back. We walked back into the tent before Harry or Hermione saw us.

They come inside and quickly I hear Harry, "we have to leave, it's not safe here, since Ron can't apparate yet we have to go on foot."
