Ayden
I follow Kaelynn outside. There's no escape for her. The cars are hidden, she won't be able to find them. I smirk looking at her panicking, she's beautiful even like this. Her panicking reminds me back to when I first saw her.
It was 4 years ago at Mark's party. I was in the garden and the faint smell of freshly baked bread hit me. Errol, my wolf, was getting excited and we instantly knew our mate was close by. She escaped back then but I will never let her get away from me again.
As I look towards her, I study her face and body. Her long auburn locks frame her face perfectly and her big brown eyes give her this innocence that makes her so enticing. Visible cuts are covering her arms and Errol can't sense her wolf. I wonder if she is a human but something about her makes me question it.
"Come back inside, you'll get ill." I say as I see her shivering.
She gives up and walks back inside. She's now screaming at Avery; she is so angry and that is getting Errol excited. He loves the fire she has inside.
Avery points to her belly and Kaelynn suddenly calms down. I laugh thinking it's sweet how calm she became right after that moment. In return for the laugh, Kaelynn gives me daggers which only makes me laugh more.
Avery then takes Kaelynn to show her around the house and I find Mark.
"It's her, she is the one." I say as soon as I see Mark.
I hug Mark thanking him for finding her. Since his party, we have hunted down every girl who showed up to the party but none had been my mate until now.
"But she's a human right? How's that going to work, what is she freaks out when she finds out what we are?" Mark says back at me, all these thoughts had gone through my mind already and I didn't know how to answer.
"Let's cross that bridge when it comes to it. For now, I just want to enjoy every moment with my mate."
"Have you told the rest of the family?" Mark wants to know if he can tell Avery, I can sense it.
"No, I don't want to scare her off and we can't risk her finding out and scaring her off. That means you can't tell Avery for now."
Mark is uncomfortable with the idea of hiding things from Avery, it's written all over his face but I am the Alpha so he will have to agree.
"Fine but if Avery asks me outright, you know I can't lie to her."
I nodded, that was fair. After all, I would never outright lie to my mate either. With that we make our way to our daily pack meeting.
The daily pack meeting seems much longer than normal today. I want to get back to Kaelynn, I only have a week with her. I try to pay attention to dad but my mind is just not here.
Dad is briefing the pack leaders on my alliance talk yesterday with Alpha Tasha and Alpha Baden, who rule the two provinces in the south. Whilst their provinces are in no short supply of professionals such as doctors and teachers, their military defences are weak so they were eager to join an alliance with us to protect themselves.
"That's everything from me. Ayden, did you want to add anything?"
"No, meeting adjourned."
I end the meeting abruptly and leave with Mark. Errol is getting impatient. He wants to see Kaelynn now and so do I. Mark is going to be my secret weapon this week. He will try to get me alone with Kaelynn whenever he can.
