I released a sigh of relief before looking around to see no one was in the hallway.

Hmmm... It might be a while until she comes might as while text my mom, I thought as I reached for my back pocket to pull out my phone.

I check the time for the USA and see that it is one in the morning.

Well, shit, guess I'm texting her at eight, I thought to myself.

I look up to a handsome red-haired guy, he has a sharp jawline and looks animated, and another guy who is slightly taller and muscular.

The muscular one looks at me and stops walking.

"Hi, are you a new trainee here?" he asks me.

"Hum? oh yeah I am," I say unintentionally sounding bored.

"How long have you been training?" he asks as he looks at us confused.

"I start tomorrow I think, I still have to sign the contract," I say casually.

*Korean*

"Jaehyun, she's really pretty but she's kinda scary. Do you think she'll make it?" the redhead asks, confusing me.

Okay, now you're being overdramatic. I don't look that scary, I just got the chronic case of a resting bitch face, I argue with him in my head.

"She's a new trainee Taeyong hyung, we shouldn't judge her yet, she passed the audition and she has dark skin. She must be talented," Jaehyun says.

I don't know whether to be upset because it was kinda racist or to be proud of myself, I thought to myself as I stared at the two boys.

"Um... I know Korean," I say they looked at me like they saw a talking cat.

Taeyong turns bright red and quickly covers his face out of embarrassment, while Jaehyun looks down with his ears bright red.

"Um, my name Taeyong and I'm the leader of NCT," he says after bowing to me.

"I'm Jaehyun, a member of NCT," Jaehyun says after bowing to me.

"Joyce, soon to be a trainee," I say as I awkwardly bow.

"What do you want to be?" Jaehyun asks, looking into my eyes.

"Um, I want to be someone that can help people with my music," I answered, not knowing if that was a good response.

"But like what position do you want?" Taeyong asks.

"Wow, I haven't thought about that," I say, making them look at me with their eyes brows raised.

"Really?" Taeyong asks.

"Yeah, I was scouted at my school, since I was in the music and dance program," I say.

"Ahhhhhh, that makes sense," Jaehyun says.

"Oy Taeyong, Jaehyun aren't you supposed to be going to your fan meeting, why are you here?" a short woman wearing a black and dark red suit asked.

"Taeyong hyung left his phone in the practice room, so we were going to get it," Jaehyun said as the woman stared at his ears.

"Alright I believe you, now stop bothering the poor girl," she says while smiling.

She has a pretty smile, she looks young, impressive that she is the leader, oddly progressive for Korea, I observed.

"Yes, Areum-ssi," Taeyong and Jaehyun say in unison, before running off to the left.

"Sorry about that, boys," she says, making me chuckle.

"It's cool," I say smiling.

"My name is Areum," she says holding out her hand,

"Joyce," I say taking her hand.

"Come on, let's go to the meeting room," she says as we start to walk to the right and go into the elevator.

"So where are you from?" she asks me as the door closes, she pressed on the fifteenth floor.

"I'm from America," I answer, piquing her interest.

"Which state?" She asks looking at me.

"Detroit, Michigan," I answer.

"Ooh, which part?" she asks, surprising me that she wanted to know so much.

"Um, West Chicago Livernois ave Detroit. Why?" I ask, watching her reaction.

"My cousin lives in Detroit, also west Chicago Livernois ave?" She asks before I could say anything she says, "that's like the worst neighborhood in Detroit!"

I scratch the back of my neck and awkwardly look down, "um, yeah it was pretty bad," I say feeling a little self-conscious.

"Do you want to be an idol so you could leave that neighborhood?" she asks.

"Yeah but I feel bad for leaving my family," I say as the feeling of guilt creeps into my soul.

"That makes sense, but you'll get enough money to move them out," she says.

"You're right," I say, smiling.

"So how do you like it in Korea?" she adds.

"I haven't been here long enough to form an opinion,'' I state, making her nod her head.

"How old are you?" She asks.

"17, why?" I ask.

"You have to call me unnie," she says smiling.

Unnie, I thought you only call your sister that, I thought looking at her.

"Alright," I say as the door opens.

"We are going into the room on the far left, it has one of the best views in Gangnam," she boasted, I felt my face pasted uninterested. She looks at me and quickly looks down.

"Alright," I say as we walk into the meeting room.
