Alpha Devon POV:
Swearing, I collapse back into my office chair cupping my crown jewels. I struggle to fight back nausea around the pit quaking in my stomach. With conscious effort I slow my breathing from laboured pants to even breaths. All the while, I turn over in my mind every cruel thing I would do to Anastasia, inside and outside the bedroom, once I have her at my mercy.
The phone rings, interrupting the fantasies nursing the pain from my groin. "What?" I snap from between my teeth.
"It's Tyran. We've got a problem"
"No. Don't tell me that Tyran. We're moving tonight, now is not the time for you to fail me."
"Fail you?" Scoffs Tryan. "Take a hike Reece. Our allegiance is a courtesy not a privilege. Neither I nor any of my men are in this for Alpha recognition. Quite the opposite" he snarls, "we joined forces on the understanding you wanted to overthrow the monarchy and if we helped, you guaranteed us land of our own to live as we choose without interference from Alpha or Royals."
Fuck. I forgot I had made that promise, not that it matters since of course I don't intend to keep them. In fact, I don't care for rogues at all, they're all savages. In the human world, they are the equivalent of homeless; the dregs of society who don't have what it takes to stand up and take action. However, for my plan's savages are exactly what I need.
"That is still the plan Tyran. I'll give you your land when I have more power to do so but I can't do that without your numbers." I back pedal, feeding him whatever lies it takes to bring him back on side.
"You're full of shit Devon, and we both know it. If I didn't have my boy's future to think about I'd tell you to shove it. If Jenny didn't feel so strongly about the Prince and what he did to herself and Janine's sister, I'd convince her to drop it-"
"Yeah yeah yeah, touching speech. Cut the crap and tell me the problem." I interrupt, bored with his morals or whatever he wants to call them. I don't care for Tyran's partner, his son or his partner's best friend. They were all given a job to do in ruining the Prince and Anastasia's relationship and they failed, as far as I am concerned they are useless now.
"A couple of the guys got tired of waiting for your plans and protested the southern palace earlier today."
"So? Its not the first time." I roll my eyes, still not seeing how this affects my plans. Stupid rogues, always so dramatic.
"But it is the first time the King came out to speak to them. He has agreed to enter into negotiations with them to find common ground. Only a quarter of the original number wish to continue with your plan, and I don't intend to join them."
