"You gained a new crown" Shiro spoke first, standing outside the altean cell looking the princess who stood within the cell.

"I became of age, I became the rightful princess who might one day rule the galra empire" Pidge answered with a small smile, lazily shrugging her shoulders a little.

"Of age" Shiro asked unsure, he use to remember Ulaz speak about such a thing but he never got told what it meant. He thought about marriage but Galra hate lifetime mates or mate less marriage. Coming of age might just mean of a cub becoming a grown adult in a sense. 

"For a Mate, once a cub turns eighteen they stand as an adult and as the princess I'll be expected to give an heir if I rule or not. If no one within my family rules after Zarkon death then I'll be given as Lady title within the galra empire" Pidge explained as she touched the tip of her crown that while gained her respect and bows, it also gave her the burden of having to look for her perfect mate one day. 

"M-Mate" Shiro blurted out in shock, his cheeks turning a deep red at the thought.

"Yep, Galra have lifetime mates remember. Once you bond as mates you'll never lose the paired bond even in death you'll still only belong to that one person. One day, I would be in such a magical pair" Pidge answered with a soft smile, lowing her gloved hands and looking to them slightly. 

"Is that what you really want, to find a mate only to give an heir" Shiro asked with a frown, slight pain in his eyes as he looked to the women before him who didn't look like the girl he met long ago. 

"Thace told me your last words, I didn't believe him since his mate was the one to release you but last night. After returning to Zarkon and being given my orders for today, I looked at the footage .. you were drugged slightly but I heard what you Promised. D-Did you truly mean it" Pidge shyly asked, holding her hands together over her skirt as she looked to the man who she really couldn't just forget no matter how much she tried.

"You heard my words" Shiro asked surprised, he never thought she would hear such a desperate plead of him returning to her. 

"Only last night, I wanted to see if Thace lied to me or not. I was hoping to not see you again and yet today I got captured by you" Pidge laughed slightly over the events of her day. 

"K-Katie, I'm not the champion anymore. Those days with you, I can't go back to living like that ever again. I want peace for the universe and I want to protect Earth and my fellow paladins too. I'm Shiro, the black paladin of voltron not .. The Champion" Shiro replied in a small voice, lowing his head hiding his expression from her eyes. 

"Why didn't you look for me" Katie finally asked, turning her back to him since she didn't want him to see her expression as she allowed her walls to break this once. She been wondering the single question since yesterday when she also got stained as a traitor without anyone ever knowing. She wondered if she would have changed if he found her sooner, if she leave her crown behind as he kept to his last words.

"I-I don't know, I became a paladin and I just kept to Voltron since returning to space. Saving planets and slowing fighting back against Zarkon in hopes of stopping him and protecting those important to me" Shiro answered in a small voice, rubbing his neck and not seeing Pidge break a little by his words.

Was she not someone important to him like he became to her..

He went looking for his friend the green paladin but never looked for her..

Was she just someone from his past, an escape for his mind while he was a prisoner..

Did he just plan to use her in gaining Zarkon favour one day..

He didn't even return to her like promised, He really was like the rest..

She must have been the biggest fool in his eyes, no wonder Ulaz had betrayed her just like Thace would..

She never noticed the truth over them becuase she needed them more then they needed her..

"I see" Pidge whispered under her breath, her walls building back up once more and her body turning numb.

"I will give you a warning now, Either allow me to return to Zarkon and we become enemies with our past forgotten or become my enemy now" Pidge replied coldly, her hands falling from their tight fits and relaxing as she looked to him over her shoulder seeing the shock filling his face.

"Wha ... we don't need to be enemies" Shiro weakly yelled back, his hands turning into fists and shaking by his side.

"Neither do we need to be friends" Pidge snapped back, glaring at him as she turned to face him.

"K-Kat-" Shiro started to say in horror before being cut of.

"It's Princess Pidge to you, either kill me or expect my escape and do know, if you try stopping me the I won't show mercy" Pidge demanded back, standing with the galra honour once more as Shiro took a step back from the cell.

"This isn't you" Shiro huffed back, not accepting the women who stood before him.

"That is where your wrong Champion, This has always been me" Pidge scoff back with a smirk on her lips, raising her hand and standing as the true galran princess she was. 

Shiro eyes grew wide as he looked to the stranger within the cell, this wasn't Katie. Katie wouldn't .. she couldn't .. this wasn't his Katie. 

"Have it your way" Shiro grumbled back, storming away and leaving her in the cell not even glancing back as he walked away. 

He will not accept that women as Katie, she was someone else and not the princess he could trust to rule the Galra one day. 

Her father was right, It was best to be alone with strength then be broken with heart.

"Lotor" She whispered, tapping part of crown that should link to her brother and her brother alone, it was something both came up with as children when others first didn't agree with a weakling as the princess.

"An Hour Out" Lotor answered knowing what his sister would ask as soon as his link opened. 

"We'll leave Voltron to live this once, I fear I won't be able to keep them alive if I'm left taken them to Zarkon" Pidge warned as she unlocked the cell, stepping out and feeling her murderous rage try and take over her body.

"Understood, An Hour away make some damage to keep them busy in our escape" Lotor replied to his sister before ending the link and letting her get to work. 

"How can I save the Universe if I can't even save the one who means the most" Shiro asked himself, his filled with frustration as his galran arm glowed slightly while he walked straight towards the training room to calm his anger.
