Out of the Brownie Development the two of them went and that's when the world suddenly started getting a little bit colder.
Chase shivered.
"Is this supposed to be the weather here?"
"We're approaching north."
At that moment, a snowflake fell on Berry's fingertip.
"This is normal. The world normally can turn against you in terms of weather. Up north, it's no exception. Be grateful that we're not all the way up north, then you'll regret everything."
Chase rolled his eyes.
"You got to believe me when I say it. It won't be too long until the snow will stick on that ground. And that means trouble."
"What? A little snow won't kill you."
"Oh, you're going to regret what you said."
"As if."
Most of their journey was full of the barren land that has nothing to it, but plains and the same pink grass and pink sky.
On Chase's right side, approaching them, was remains of a house. In that moment, it started to rain and their view got blurry and they couldn't see a thing.
Berry opened up an umbrella and signaled Chase to go under with her. The world was still just a bunch of clouds and rain, around their eyes was grey.
"Is this supposed to happen?" Chase asked.
"Something about this doesn't seem right." Berry mumbled.
For a second, the world was still grey, and the only color was under their feet, in the grass.
Suddenly, the rain stopped and the world came back to normal.
Until, a shower came along but the world didn't fade away again. Instead, they noticed somebody right by the house, their head down, while they were under an umbrella.
Berry and Chase walked towards them.
"Excuse me?"
"What?"
The person looked at them. He had darker skin than most and his hair was a light green. The black eyes that he had held an expression of hurt, and his eyes were full of tears.
"Do you know what happened here?" Berry asked.
"This was my house when I was little. My father and mother used to bake bread here. We had a happy life. All until the king decided that he didn't like that we existed and he burnt or house down and killed my parents. I come here everyday to look at the remains of my parents and my house. And all I can think is what could I have done to save all of us? I lost everything. EVERYTHING!"
He fell to the floor and started to sob.
Berry and Chase looked at the remains. Only a little bit of stone from the first floor was still there. Berry went down to him and comforted him.
"I know that it's hard to lose everything. I've been there. I never lost both parents but I lost my mother, she ran away to the real world for better treatment."
"Wait, was your mother Queen Marissa?"
"Yes, yes she was."
"Does that mean that your father is the king?"
"Unfortunately."
That's when the green haired boy pushed her away and she fell.
"How could you and your stupid family do such a thing and kill innocent people? You monsters! You disgraces! The king probably sent you here to kidnap me? Right? Right?!"
"It's not like that! I hate my father too! I do!"
"If you hate him, why are you still here? Why haven't you killed yourself yet? Why haven't you killed him yet? Why aren't you doing anything? You have power, you're just a part of that stupid royalty! All you all care about is yourselves and nobody else. Why didn't your mother take you with her? You would do so much better there wherever she went!"
Berry had tears in her eyes.
"I didn't have a choice whether I could go or not, if I did, then I would be long gone. My mother left me so she could live a better life! She promised that she would get me, but she never came back. So, I waited! Years! I waited for her, but then I gave up because I didn't see the point."
"You can at least get back your parents! Mine are dead! Dead! You can have whatever you want! You were born privileged! How could you be so stupid to the needs of others?"
"I gave up my chance of being the next ruler because I knew that people like you existed! Why can't you see that I'm trying but when I was given the decision, I gave it up. And yes, i messed up the future of candisons that are suffering. But that's because either way, they would never listen to me!"
He laughed.
"That's funny. What a joke. I'm suddenly so sad now. Boo hoo."
That's when Berry got up and full of rage, she went straight for his throat and started choking him.
"Just because I might have the perfect life doesn't mean that I have everything! Even if your parents are dead, you still had two loving parents that accepted you. Both of my parents turned into ghosts and left me! Your parents would never leave you, never! They loved you so much."
"Berry, stop!" Chase ran and threw Berry off of the guy, who was traumatized.
"You really are like your father. No wonder why you would never be a good ruler."
"Please just listen to me! I'm sorry. For acting up and going straight to you. I have anger issues, and they're bad. Terrible. I know how much that you're suffering and how much you hurt everyday."
"I come here everyday to pay my respects to my parents that are in heaven. They sacrificed themselves so they can save me. When they threw me out of that window as a toddler. They meant well. And now, I'm that boy. The rumored boy who's alive who travels."
He looked at them.
"I have a name, you know? And, my name is Melon. Melon Sweetbread. That's my name. If we ever cross paths again, you're remember my name. Goodbye."
He picked up all of his stuff and he went back north. At that time, the rain started getting heavier again and the world turned grey again.
