"There is one more place that I want to take you to, but I'm not sure if you want to go to it."

"What is it?"

"I'll just take you there."

SNAP!

Berry snapped her fingers and Chase and her were now on the rooftop. A wind blew past them unlike no other.

"Welcome to the rooftop. A place that is inaccessible to all unless it is by magic. Well, it's supposed to be a roof. Just a cover. But, there is a myth that goes with it. Such as the children of the rooftop. At least when the Sages were alive, this rumor could be true."

"What is it?"

Berry sat on a part of the roof that sloped. She managed to keep herself in a good position.

Chase sat next to her and he nearly slid down.

"Oh god, not now."

Berry snapped her fingers and that's when Chase was glued to the rooftop.

"I am not letting you fall now."

"Just tell me the legend before I think about this too much."

"Fine. Anyways. Back when my grandparents were still getting the kingdom together, they built this castle. At first, it was only the main castle. But as the years went on and it went from ruler to ruler, that's when the castle got more grand and extreme. When the Sages were alive, they would gather on the castle rooftop and perform the usual rituals that they would in the treehouse, because the treehouse was cut down. They were known as "The Children of the Rooftop", and they would pray homage to the gods for letting them live. They would practice their magic and have sparring matches while all dressed in black."

"That seems fun and it sounds fucking awesome. Can we do that?"

Berry shook her head.

"First off, imagine seeing fireworks on top of the castle, that would throw everybody into a panic. Second off, somebody would find us, and if it's a knight, you're going to be really sorry if it is."

"I guess knights are scary."

"You would expect knights to be like a knight in shining armor, but the ones here are just major dicks. Only caring about themselves and selfish with their magic. But, oh well, they wouldn't survive in the human world."

"Why?"

"I heard that magic in the human world is considered null. Everything that you learn in Candyland will turn into nothing."

"I can't confirm that, but I would say that nobody in the human world does magic."

"Fuck. I did not think that through."

"It's ok. Magic won't save the problems of the world, unless it's global warming, maybe."

Berry looked away.

"Are you ok? When you talk about your world, you seem a little sad when you talk about it."

"It's not the best place, but I know for you, anywhere is better than where we are now."

"I would kill to get out of here. I would do anything. Anything. I can't being here anymore."

"And you know what? We're getting out of here. Somehow, I don't know, but we will be getting out of here, one way or another."

"Even though our adventure has been weird, I want to thank you for being by my side the whole time. When the time is right, I will tell you my true intentions."

"Your true intentions?"

Berry just giggled.

"It's nothing. Nothing to tell you right now. What I'm saying is that if the day comes closer then you'll learn."

Berry started to get up.

"Well, um.... I'm still stuck to the roof."

"Hang on tight." Berry snapped her fingers and then Chase got up.

Soon, they were face to face and they stepped closer and closer to each other.

"If you lost me, what would you do?" Berry whispered in his ear.

"What?"

"What if something happened to me that you could not do anything for?"

"Berry, what are you talking about?"

"Look, there's something that I have to tell you, and you won't like it."

"Berry, now I'm scared."

Berry kissed his ear.

"It's nothing to worry about. It's just one thing."

Berry took a deep breath and started to have her tears swallow her blue eyes.

"By the end of the journey, I am going to get executed by my father."

Chase stopped and pushed Berry back lightly.

"What do you mean? What have you even done for this to happen to you?"

Berry shook her head.

"My father has been waiting for this day ever since I stared rebelling against him. He's going to force my name and make me be executed for something like treason, and that's why I wanted to distract myself."

"The Berry that I know wouldn't take a loss from anybody. This isn't like you, not even a bit."

"I know it's not, but.... that's the thing."

"I thought we were going to escape."

"We are."

"But you're confusing me."

"It's not a switch bait kind of plan, not at all. It's more of a run at the most unexpected moment. I'm going to get executed in a month and there is one thing that needs to be done here and then we can bolt. And, one more thing to grab."

"A thing to grab?"

"There are a series of lockers stored in the knights chamber that are heavily guarded. If we take two of them, then that will help us use magic in the real world. I remember my mother took one for herself. It is best that you get one in your birthstone."

"Are you sure?"

"Why wouldn't I be?"

"You've been a little bit suspicious lately."

"It's nothing to worry about. Look...."

She snapped the two of them back to the bedroom hall.

"I'm going to be in your room at 3am, the most vulnerable time for nights to be off guard. We're going to go in there and we're going to take some lockets. Be prepared to bring some weapons with you. For now, Goodnight."

She peaked Chase on the cheek and then Chase went to his room.
