Berry and Chase woke up in the middle of nowhere. As Chase got up, Berry started to have a coughing fit.
"What's wrong?" Chase got down and picked her up.
Berry could only cough over and over again.
"Come on! Uh, uh... what do I do?"
Chase suddenly remembered that he knew a tiny bit of magic, so he thought of a spell and cast it on Berry, hoping for the best.
"Fittina Couchity! Cease the cough!"
A little sparkle of silver flew in the air, and it went into Berry's skin. She started to gag and coughed up a hard rock looking object.
"My voice, it's hoarse." Berry touched her throat and cried in pain.
"Hey hey, it's ok. Look, just listen to me, ok? If you can't do this, then we can set up camp here."
"No no, we are not setting camp. Camp is for babies."
Berry tried to get up on her own, but she fell down.
"Owwdudhdihebwwwwdjfj."
"Ok, let's just get this straight. We can make an even deal. You clearly need a few hours to rest. To try and get at least a little bit better."
"Fine!"
She shrieked in pain before passing out quietly.
While she was passed out, Chase grabbed her spell book and started reading through the pages, trying to examine the mysterious object that Berry coughed up.
He flipped through the stones pages and found birth stones, healing stones, stoned stones, and more. That's when he found out what stone it was in the Cursed Stones section.
Lumina Stele
A hard and Grey stone that can often be found in the body of somebody who had been cursed by a ghost. This stone can be coughed up and often leaves the cursed person fatigued for about 24 and a half hours.Chase looked over at the stone. There were small bits of blood all around the stone. Berry coughed all of a sudden, scaring Chase.
That's when Chase decided to read the book more and went to the "Spells" Category, finding thousands of different spells on the page, all written in very tiny handwriting.
Only the name was given, and there was no description as to what the spell did. Suddenly, a tree appeared, and Chase decided that it would be the perfect opportunity to test some magic out.
"Ok, let's see.. abrakaboodle!"
A swirl of magic came from his fingertips, and then the tree started to erupt thunder.
"Uh oh. Um, um.... percify Magnetic!"
Another dash of magic came through, but this time, the tree started to float to the sky.
"Dear god, shit! Dorefa Exdowner!"
The tree stopped in midair and started falling down towards Chase.
"AAAAAAAAG! YODANITE HASAFRESA!"
All of a sudden, the tree turned into raindrops. But, it was nearly the temperature of snow.
"Solarabea nana site!"
The sun got rid of all of the rain, but it became extra cold all of a sudden.
"Solarabea nana site!"
The sun got warmer and soon, everything was back to normal.
"I guess reverting a spell will cancel it, that kind of makes sense."
At that moment, Berry woke up.
"What the fuck were you doing? It sounded like you were in a hurricane."
"Well.... I was trying some magic spells."
"Of course you fucking was, goddamn it!"
Berry started to squirm on the floor like a little child.
"Shouldn't you be passed out or something?"
"If somebody uses magic in front of another magical being, then it will alter the effects of my condition."
Berry jumped up all of a sudden, but then fell back down.
"I guess that means that you're ok to go on now?"
"What else would I be like?"
"I'll just pick you up here."
Chase helped Berry stand up and they started to walk, slowly but surely they walked on their journey, Berry had her arm around Chase's shoulder. As if Berry was injured in a war.
"You know, you helped me all of this journey, so now it's my turn to help you."
"Times like this, I wonder... who even raised you?"
"Are you used to guys being dicks to you all of the time?"
"Well, you know I think that."
"I'm not one of those guys."
"Sure you are."
"I might be your average joe, but I got a heart. Hey, I got a question for you, why do you always expect the worst things to happen?"
"Because that's all I knew, that the worst was going to come and then it would swallow me up and take everything away from me. The life that I lost is a life that I will never get back."
"But sometimes, it's better just to move on. You can't fix everything that has a problem, even if you really really really want to."
"I know that. It's just that I feel bothered when I can't fix something on my own. Like I see the problem but I don't know how to tackle it. And that's when I get mad at myself, because I see myself as a failure and that's why I never want to let anybody down. I have high standards of my own to beat. That voice in my head is telling me that I have to do everything to make myself seem likable and perfect."
Chase sighed.
"I see, you struggle with trying to be the perfect girl that you don't know what to do when something goes wrong."
"When I try to be perfect, that's when everything went wrong. I don't want to be perfect, I know that I mess up everything. But, there's still this part of me that wants to be somebody I'm not. Hey, even I struggle with identity."
"That's ok, you know what? I do too. It's ok, even the most confident people struggle with who they are."
"Really?"
"Really."
They walked through the sunset together as the day was near an end. Their next stop? An unexplained place that they are going to. Back to where they started, and no, not Licorice City.
