Y/N POV:
Something about the smile that resided on Malfoy's face that week made me, Harry, Ron and Hermione very nervous. We spent most of our free time trying to reason with Hagrid in his hut.
"Come on Hagrid, you have to give him away! It's only logical!" I reasoned with him.
"Just let him go," Harry urged, "set him free."
"I can't," said Hagrid, "'e's too little, 'e'll die."
I looked down to the Dragon on the table. It had grown at least three times bigger in the last week. Smoke kept furling out of his nostrils. Hagrid hadn't had time to complete his gamekeeping duties because the Dragon had kept him too busy. There were empty bottles of Brandy bottles and chicken feathers all over the floor and near enough every worktop.
"I've decided to call 'im Norbert," Hagrid said proudly, looking towards the Dragon, "'e really knows me now, watch. Norbert! Norbert! Where's mummy?"
"I don't know about you but I think half the bottles of Brandy on the floor are ones that Hagrid has consumed." I whispered into Harry's ear.
"Hagrid," Hermione said loudly, "give it two weeks and Norbert is going to be as long as your house. Also, Malfoy could go to Dumbledore any minute, there's no way he'll let you keep a Dragon at school."
Hagrid sighed.
"I know I can't keep 'im forever, but I can't jus' dump 'im, I can't."
I turned to Ron. "Charlie!"
"Have you gone mad too? I'm Ron, remember?"
"No you idiot, Charlie, your brother. In Romania. Studying Dragons. We could send Norbert to him. Charlie can take care of him for a while and then he can be released back into the wild, with his own kind."
"Brilliant!" Ron exclaimed, "What do you think Hagrid?"
"I don't know." Hagrid mumbled, clearly upset at the thought of giving Norbert away.
In the end, after a lot of persuasion, we managed to convince Hagrid into giving Norbert away to Charlie. Ron ended up sending a letter to Charlie to ask him if it was okay.
The following week dragged as we all waited for Charlie's response. On Wednesday night me and Hermione sat alone in the Common Room, long after everyone else had gone to bed, talking to each other.
"So, how have you been lately?" I asked, starting another conversation.
"How come you're asking me this Y/N?" Hermione replied suspiciously.
"I feel like I haven't had a normal conversation with you in a while, y'know because we've all been distracted by the Philosophers Stone and Norbert."
Hermione sighed, "You're right. I've been fine thank you, just trying to process it all."
She smiled at me and rested her head on my shoulder.
