'I swear to god, I didn't do anything to him! I just-'

'He's lying! He wanted to kill me!'

'But I literally just-'

'Silence.' The judge made them shut up. They were in court, Mark had spent the night after the incident in preventive prison and had been brought to court next morning.

He didn't have a lawyer and the only person he called was Donghyuck, who was probably freaking out at the news. None of his friends were allowed to visit him, so he was literally alone in a court with humans who seemed to hate him just for breathing.

The judge let Chittaphon's lawyer speak.

'My client was assaulted by a vampire who claimed he was someone else. If they hadn't ended up in a crowded place, who knows if my client would still be alive. We have a lot of witnesses who can confirm my client is the victim. Besides, Mark Lee has criminal antecedents as he was seen purchasing blood illegally in a hospital in this city.'

Once Yangyang finished talking the judge let the vampire defend himself.

'I didn't claim he was someone else, I claimed he smelled like someone else. I wasn't going to kill him.'

The judge dismissed Mark's declaration and considered it 'proof lacking' and 'irrelevant'. Instead, he let Liu continue with his illegal blood purchase accusation.

'We have proof Lee is a criminal and has connections with the illegal blood market.' Yangyang showed a picture to the judge, it was Mark in front of the hospital's back door, offering money in exchange for a couple of blood containers. 'According to the current blood consumption laws, it is illegal for a vampire to purchase blood from a hospital as it feeds the illegal blood market that damages the sanitary system by leaking the blood transfusion system's resources.'

The judge made his sentence.

'Mark Lee has been found guilty of illegal blood purchasing and therefore will be sent to jail for three months.'

'What? You can't do that!' Mark yelled as two policemen got a hold of him. He resisted for a while. 'I came here accused of assaulting someone, and now I'm going to jail because of a picture taken illegally! This is-'

'Mark Lee, please, let us take you to the place you'll be spending the next three months peacefully. Otherwise, we'll have to use harsher methods.' Mark was pushed to a car, that looked quite unofficial, by a human. He finally gave up, accepting this was his fate for now.

'Thank you, judge Kang.'

'No problem, Qian. I owed you a favour anyways.'

Kun handed a stack of bills to the judge.

'No, I cannot accept this. It's just a small and friendly favour I did in compensation for all the times your family has helped us.'

It was true. The Qian family had economically helped the Kangs during a bad period of time. Kun's father had a lot of contacts in the judicial organisms thanks to that, and Kun sure did know how to use them.

'Mark is what?!' Taeyong yelled to the phone.

Donghyuck had just called him. He got a call from Mark earlier saying he was being arrested. Donghyuck was crying his heart out, he was worried for his boyfriend.

Taeyong hung up immediately and left the house. Jaehyun hadn't talked to him since last day and he didn't want to be the one chasing after him, so he went to Donghyuck's by himself.

Once he arrived he sneaked in through the window that was right in Donghyuck's room.

'Hyuck, we're going to the court where Mark is being judged.'

Taeyong dragged Donghyuck to that place, only to realise it was empty as they sneaked in, bumping into several security guards.

He saw a man that looked like a judge and jumped on him, grabbing him by the collar.

'You. Where the fuck is Mark Lee?!'

The judge looked terrified.

'He's being sent to jail...'

'Why-'

Before he could do something to the defenseless judge, someone interrupted him.

'Sir. Turn around.'

Taeyong glanced at whoever had talked to him. It was a security guard, and he was pointing a gun at him.

'Let him go.'

Taeyong let the judge go and turned around to face the guard. He looked around for Donghyuck only to find him a few meters away, being aimed at by another guard's gun.

'Identify yourselves.'

The older vampire hesitated, but Donghyuck didn't.

'Lee Donghyuck. Vampire. And he's Lee Taeyong.'

'Why are you two here?'

'To see Mark Lee. We've been told his trial is going to be held here.'

Kun stepped in front of Taeyong. He had the two vampires cornered. Yukhei was aiming his gun at Taeyong while Chenle was aiming it at Donghyuck.

'Mark Lee's trial has already been held and he has been found guilty. He is being sent to jail right now.'

Donghyuck's eyes started to get watery.

'What?! Why?'

'You didn't know? Lee took part in illegal blood traffic.' Kun smirked.

'What the fuck is wrong with you, humans?! All you want is to get rid of us! You keep killing us for no reason, sending us to jail for the smallest mistake. What's next?! A fucking genocide?!' Taeyong lost it when he saw Kun's cocky expression. He went feral at the thought of all his friends being snatched away from him. He jumped on Kun and made him fall backwards. He grabbed his collar while trapping him and raised his fist, ready for it to land on Kun's face.

'Lee Taeyong. If you don't let Qian go, I'll shoot.' Yukhei said. Taeyong didn't budge. However, before he could pull the trigger, someone showed up.

'Wait!'

Another vampire appeared out of nowhere.

'Jungwoo, what are you doing here?' Donghyuck asked. He didn't like him much, but he was thankful he had appeared in the right moment.

'You called me and said Mark got arrested, I went to the police station and he wasn't there, so I thought he might be in court. But it seems like he isn't here either...' Jungwoo had witnessed the scene Taeyong caused before attacking Qian. 'Please, don't shoot him. He's disturbed by the past events. Please, understand we've lost so many people around us in the past days...'

Taeyong got off Kun. 'Damn right we did. Starting by Chanyeol who disappeared, Yuta who was murdered, Johnny who disappeared as well and now Mark is going to jail? It seems like you're targeting us, doesn't it? How many humans have disappeared in this city for the past days?'

'I'm sorry, Lee. But it isn't our fault vampires tend to get in trouble more often than humans. In the end, your instincts are harder to suppress. If you didn't lose control so often you wouldn't act so impulsively and die.' Qian said. 'Why don't you ask for the documents regarding your friends' situations? Perhaps you should research a bit by yourself before blaming others for your own problems.' And with that, Qian and his two security guards left.
