'Amazing job, guys. How are you going to use it, though?'

'Don't worry, Kun. We have some ideas and we were wondering which one you'd like the most.' Dejun said.

Kun gave the glass bottle with a purple liquid back to Sicheng, who had developed the chemical.

'First option, we can just directly spray it in their faces-' Kunhang accidentally pressed the bottle too hard and the liquid went straight to Kun's face, staining his clothes as well.

'Well, I think this option is discarded. Spraying liquid in someone's face is quite... unusual?' Kun said as he dried his face with a towel Chittaphon had lent him.

'Second option, we can solidify it and make it evaporate so that we can detect vampires when they're near.' Said Sicheng. He gave Kun a necklace with purple pearls.

'That's not a bad idea, but it's a little bit too attention catching to wear a purple pearled necklace.'

'The last option we thought of is using it as a perfume. Human noses can't detect this smell and it can be mixed with actual perfume or cologne without it affecting its function.' Dejun showed Kun a smal bottle that contained the purple liquid. Kun sprayed some on his wrist and smelt it, it smelt like regular cologne.

'Alright. We'll use it as cologne. We'll test it this afternoon, tell Chenle and Yukhei to get ready.'

'So if we have (x+2)/2y 2 is divided by 2 and then we have x/y?'

'No, the 2 is adding to the x while there it's multiplying the y. It's not the same.'

Jisung let out a desperate sigh as Chenle tried to teach him some basic math. They stayed in the library until late, when the guy who worked there got their attention.

'Guys, I'm sorry but we need to close soon.'

'No problem, we're leaving now.' Chenle said. They left the library and parted ways. Chenle checked his phone: 13 calls from Kun, 6 from Chittaphon, 3 text messages from Yangyang and one from Yukhei.

Fuck.

He ran till he reached the building, rushing in only to be met with Yukhei standing in the middle of the first floor, waiting for him with not so pleased face.

'Where were you?'

'I was... in the library studying...'

'Kun is mad, expect a scolding later. We're going to test this.' Yukhei took a small bottle filled with a purple liquid and sprayed it on Chenle. 'You're going to be the lure. We'll try to catch at least a vampire. Once they smell you their body will react to the chemicals and our job is to report the radius of effectiveness.'

It was almost dark, Johnny had finally closed the library for the day and was calmly walking home.

Jisung already got a boyfriend?

He was immersed in his own thoughts until a smell caught his attention. It was weird, he could not recognise what it smelt like. He instinctively got closer to the source of that smell and suddenly lost control of his own body. His heartbeat slowed down, his fangs started showing and his senses became more acute. He felt like a wolf chasing for his prey. He approached a human body and jumped on them out of control.

The human turned around surprising him, as if he'd seen him approaching. He took a pocket knife out of nowhere and inserted it right into his left eye.

Johnny let out a painful scream as he felt the metallic piece sink down into his eye socket. His body reacted violently, he grabbed the human's wrist and pulled it away, taking out the pocket knife as well. However, someone attacked him from behind right before he could either run away or fight back. A meter long blade made its way in between his ribs from behind, perforating his chest.

His legs gave up. His head ached as his cells desperately tried to reconstruct his destroyed eye. His lungs started to fill with his own blood and he soon lost consciousness.

Yukhei took the sword out of the vampire's chest. He made a rapid movement with it to take some blood off it, splattering it all over the floor. The body fell flat on its stomach, allowing Chenle to take both wrists to tape them together. He taped the vampire's ankles together as well and Yukhei helped him place it in a bag.

Johnny opened his right eye. His head still ached, although it was not comparable to the pain he'd felt before. His wrists felt sticky, but he could move his limbs freely. He was in a dark place, so he didn't know where he was. He tried to stand up, but he bumped his head against a flat and cold surface. He changed into a more comfortable position, but his chest hurt like hell. He touched his own body, he was topless and he felt a liquid all over his chest. His face was stained too, he still couldn't open his left eye.

All of a sudden, the lights were turned on. He observed his surroundings, he was in a small metallic cage. He was locked like an animal, in front of him was a huge lab with lots of suspicious substances and tools. Before him were standing three guys.

'I see you're awake.' One of them said. Although he wanted to answer he couldn't. His tongue didn't respond to his brain's orders. It was as if he'd lost the ability to speak. In fact, all his body felt slowed down. He looked more carefully at the other two guys, one of them was the one who stabbed him in the eye before. He didn't know how long ago though. He felt disoriented and lost, treated like an animal.

He looked at his own hands, as he expected they were stained with his own blood.

'Let's take a look at you. You two can leave.' Said the one that had talked before, signaling the other two to leave. Once they were in the lab alone Johnny was dragged out of the cage. Although he could move his movements were slow and clumsy, it was clear he couldn't fight back even if it was against a human. He was placed on a metallic table and his wrists and ankles were cuffed to it.

'My name is Dejun, I hope we can get along well.' Although Dejun was talking in a friendly way, the tweezer and the blade he was holding didn't look as friendly. 'Open your eye.' Said Dejun in a sweet tone. Even though he'd said it like a command he forced Johnny's left eye open himself, taking a closer look and humming as if he was doing the most normal thing to do.
