The room was dark, the lights were off. The only source of light was the faint moonlight that sneaked in through the window.
The human was sitting on the floor, back against the border of the bed and hands hugging his knees. Tears were threatening to come out of his eyes, but he tried his best to hold them in.
Chenle took his phone to check the time, 03:29.
He bit the inside of his cheek as he remembered Chittaphon's words.
'The fact that he's alive is exceptional enough. Take into account that we normally would have just killed him. If it were someone else, he would have been dead the moment he stepped into the lab. Yukhei is very strong and knows everything about this place. He could easily manipulate any of you and his other personality is difficult to deal with. In fact, the intention was to kill him and use his corpse, but since he offered to carry you here and demonstrated a minimum will to collaborate we let him live. Him being alive is more than enough. You can visit him every day if you want. Dejun might even let you feed or play with him for a while. But you must carry on with your life in exchange. Don't skip school anymore and you'll be allowed to interact with the vampire.'
Chenle ended up giving in to Chittaphon's words, accepting going to school if that would allow him to be with his best friend for some time. Kun and him accorded he would go to school every day and would be partly homeschooled by Sicheng to make up for all the classes he'd missed while he was with the vampires. He also negotiated which days he worked in the shop with Yangyang, so some afternoons he would be quite busy with the perfume shop.
Chenle's schedule was quite busy, yet there he was, rethinking his life choices past 3 am.
Fuck it.
Chenle silently snuck out of his room and tiptoed to the third floor. He walked down the stairs, making sure no one heard him.
The corridor was dark, there were no lights on, but as he neared his destination he started hearing some sounds.
He stood in front of the door, and clearly heard two different voices, whispering inside the lab. He placed his ear against the door surface, listening attentively to the two voices, they were Yukhei and Yangyang's.
'...are you sure Yangyang?'
'Come on, Yukhei, we don't have much time! Hurry up!'
'But Yang, it's going to hurt!'
'I know!'
'And after it you're going to be so exhausted, how will you go back to your room?'
'Shut up and do it!'
'But if I do it all at once you'll get hurt!'
'I don't care!
'But I don't want to hurt you Yangyang...'
'I'll be fine.'
'But it will be painful, isn't it your first time?'
'Yukhei, for god's sake, do it already! Do you want us to get caught? Because if we do I'll get scolded, but you'll be punished so badly!'
'Okay, okay. I'll do it. I'll count to three, yeah? It's very important you relax and don't tense up, or it will hurt even more.' Both of them took a deep breath and Yukhei started counting. 'One, two, three...'
Yangyang let out a whimper.
'I-it hurts...'
The vampire responded with a low groan.
'Y-you're going t-too fast... Y-yukhei, slow down, p-please...'
Chenle heard Yukhei moan, and Yangyang whined at the sensation.
'Yukhei! I said s-slow down!'
'Sorry, sorry... It just... It feels so good...'
'Ye-'
'Shh!' Yukhei suddenly shushed the human beneath him.
'What now?'
'There's someone behind the door, I can hear their breathing.'
Chenle froze, he slowly pushed the door open and, he saw Yukhei and Yangyang's sillouete, on the lab's table, like there wasn't a more comfortable spot to lay on. Yukhei was on top of the younger, completely shirtless and awfully close to the human's face.
Chenle blushed even more at the sight, he covered his eyes immediately and blurted out an excuse.
'I'msorryforwalkinginonyoutwohavingsexitwasn'tmyintentioniswearijustwantedtocheckuponYukheibecauseithought-'
'Wait wait wait. You walked in on Yukhei and I having what?!' Yangyang exclaimed, cheeks reddening at the thought.
'Chenle, you can open your eyes. We weren't doing the dirty, you need some holy water, child.'
Chenle slowly lowered his hands, seeing his two friends now in front of him. Yangyang had all his clothes on, and Yukhei had his lips stained in... blood.
Suddenly all the pieces fit together and he understood the situation. Yangyang had two small marks on the side of his neck.
'O-oh... You were...'
'I was feeding Yukhei because Dejun won't do it and I don't want Yukhei to die.'
Jisung ran home after that incident. A few blood drops were still on the corner of his mouth. His tongue licked it off to clean it.
His blood tastes amazing...
Yet, he knew how wrong what he had just done was.
Stupid Jisung... You assaulted a human! And not just a human, you assaulted Zhong Chenle! All those years trying to get closer to him... And now everything is messed up! Why are you so fucking dumb, Jisung?!
His heart told him to go back, to make sure Chenle was alive, to take care of the human until he healed.
But his mind told him to run. Run away. Disappear from Chenle's life. He'd ruined it, badly. There was no turning back.
His father's words resonated through his head.
'If you ever kill a human, whether it is intentional or not, leave. Leave the place immediately. If they find the corpse, they won't be able to incriminate you. Vampires are so different from humans, our hair doesn't fall off so regularly and our skin is more resistant so it's hard to find DNA of a vampire in a crime scene. Our skin doesn't release grease, so our fingerprints are practically undetectable, and the list can go on. However, just with a human ocular witness, a vampire will be incriminated and irremediably be punished for it.'
He reached his home, he got in and placed his hands on his knees, panting. A wave of guilt came like a tsunami to drown his heart.
Fuck, fuck, fuck!
He turned around and put his hand on the doorknob, ready to go back. He was about to ruin his own life. He knew if Chenle accused him of assault in front of a tribunal, he would go to jail. However, he was ready to risk it.
His life is more important than my future. Even if I go to jail, everything will be fine because no one will die. If I stay, I will be free, but the guilt of killing him won't ever let me breathe.
'Jisung? Where were you?'
Shit.
It was Chanyeol. His brother had seen him enter the house in a rush. He'd also noticed the smell of blood that was still on his lips.
