Getting Started

Ten, Lucas, Jeno and Renjun were in the new cafe, clipboard on the floor between them all as they tried to figure out everything that would be needed. They had taken to calling the second cafe the Moonwalk Cafe because it had a bit more of a space vibe than the retro themed Limitless Cafe. Not that that's what it was going to actually be called.

"Wi-Fi. We'll need that first so we can order stuff while we're working here." Jeno spoke up.

Ten uncapped the pen and wrote that down underneath the extremely specific paint colors Renjun had decided on, a new countertop, register, and the necessary equipment to make everything. They were going to make the light fixtures and flooring work since they weren't awful, as well as the display case already installed.

"Other than ordering coffee beans and ingredients, isn't that all we'll need?" Lucas asked.

"Blackboard to write the menu on. We'll need chalk, then, and cleaning supplies." Renjun added in, ignoring Lucas.

"Cleaning supplies for the blackboard or the cafe?" Ten questioned.

"Both."

"Speaking of the menu," Jeno started, "do we need to redesign it?"

Renjun held up the sketchbook he had been doodling in the entire time. "Already on it. We're going to want to think about if we're using the same aprons as Limitless Cafe or if we're changing the style."

Ten wrote the apron part down with a question mark to remind himself to ask Johnny about it later.

"If we change the style I could embroider them for us." Ten offered, peeking over at Renjun's sketchbook to see what he was doing for the menu.

A multicolored planet with rings and a few stars would look pretty nice on navy apron. A stark contrast from the dark green in the Limitless Cafe.

"Alright, now is that it?" Lucas questioned impatiently. He didn't quit his job to sit in the new cafe and think. He wanted to do something.

"We'll have to copy the recipe book so we have it here too." Jeno added.

Ten picked up his head, thinking back to the conversation he had heard before they left.

"Jaehyun, Kun and Taeil are working on revamping it to fit the vibe of this one. That way the cafes have a distinct look with the same taste."

Lucas' eyes lit up, "Like galaxy frosted cupcakes?"

Renjun nodded, "And fondant aliens chilling on your danish."

Jeno scrunched his nose. The thought of having to eat a tiny, bright green alien that was chilling on a danish didn't sound too good. It sounded a little morbid, especially after he imagined strawberry jelly coming out of it.

"Can we re-think that idea at some point? Sounds kind of morbid."

Renjun shrugged as Ten put that in the question column.

"Alright, other than ingredients, I think that's all we'll need for this place. Oh, and decorations."

Ten scribbled his last idea on the list before looking around the room. Something still felt like it was missing, and he couldn't quite put his finger on it.

"Are we missing something?"

Lucas leaned back onto his hands, looking up at the ceiling. "I don't think so."

"Yeah, I think we got it all." Jeno piped up.

To see if he could figure out where Ten's feeling was coming from, Renjun looked around the room. He would've brushed off the feeling of missing something too, if he hadn't looked at where they were sitting.

More or less, the lack of where they were sitting.

"Tables and chairs, guys. Tables and chairs." He said with a sigh.

Ten gasped and he leaned forward to write it on the list. "This is why we brought you along."

Technically, they brought Renjun along because he was bored and Taeyong caught him willing a rude customer's shoelaces to tie together. But if his purpose was apparently to remind them of the obvious, then so be it.

Lucas stood up, clapping his hands. "Now are we done?"

Jeno tossed him the safety goggles they had brought with them. Renjun and Ten put on theirs without being prompted, already knowing what was going to happen.

"Go for it."

Picking up a hammer with a joyful grin, Lucas swung it into the countertop of the counter they had to move further into the cafe.

Construction had now officially started.
