Extra Chapter #1
Blaine had been smiling all day. It was one of the rare days we both had off, which meant it was packed full of plans with various friends we had wished to catch up on as a couple. I would have complained, though I supposed we had the night to ourselves, and that was even rarer than a day.
We first had a brunch with some of the cast in the movie we had starred in a few years ago. Although at the time my life felt hectic and busy, some of the memories of filming were the best I had on a production set. I got the chance to star alongside my husband in his acting debut, and we both celebrated Oscar wins for our performance, which was only the cherry on top. We had remained good friends with most of the cast, and getting to see them for brunch was a welcome experience.
Then after brunch we had Tina's baby shower, which meant a needed catch-up with a lot of our high school friends, as well as some of our new Los Angeles friends. Since Tina and Artie were the other couple based in the city, we had ended up with a similar social circle - at least while we weren't too busy with work.
The two of them had found their own successes. Artie wasn't quite yet the five star director he dreamed of being, but his projects were slowly getting more recognition, and Tina was getting that too since she starred in most of them.
We walked into the room, slightly late due to traffic - it was Los Angeles, after all - and were immediately met with hugs and excitement from all of our friends. Everyone had been there: Rachel, Santana, Brittany, Quinn, Mercedes and Kurt. A lot of the guys had also came into town, and they would be joining us later for our dinner plans.
It had been a while since I had seen Tina, and as a gave her a hug the bump was a welcome surprise, "Look at you, you're absolutely glowing."
"Thank you Poppy," she smiled sweetly, "you guys are all lucky this is one of my good days."
"You really are," Artie sighed as he rolled out of the front door to go out, looking somewhat exhausted himself.
"Pregnancy is tough work," Rachel felt the need to add, "I've been through it twice and it does not get better. And Jesse is trying to convince me to have another child."
She continued, "I used to hate how I was an only child, I even wrote - if I say so myself - quite the song about it. Though I'm not sure if I can do it again."
We all chuckled at Rachel's admission, as she lightly bounced her daughter on her lap, who had been softly babbling to herself. Just then, a small figure had grabbed onto my leg, claiming, "Auntie Poppy!"
I picked up the child, holding the two year old in my arms, softly brushing his long curly blonde locks out of his face. I suppose my genetics were coming in pretty strongly, and in more way than one as Kurt came over, "He's been asking all day when you can come and kick a football with him in the garden."
I chuckled, "Well Auntie Poppy has to be with her friends, but you're coming round to ours later on so I'm sure we can then."
"Thanks again for hosting tonight," Kurt sighed, kissing his son quickly on the forehead. Jasper chuckled at his father's kiss. "Even if just for evening dinner, we haven't had a big group get together with everyone in years."
"It's a shame you guys can't stay all night, but we've got that early flight," Blaine continued, lying straight through his teeth. Yeah, we both were flying to London the next day, but not until the night.
Kurt frowned, "I guess we have to be thankful we all have exciting, busy lives. Besides, it makes all the little times just that more special."
I went to sit down at the table Tina had out, still holding Jasper and sitting him on my lap as he babbled to me about whatever. The older he got, the more he appeared to look like me, which also meant he looked like Kurt. Though his blonde curly hair made him look like a little version of myself.
