Chapter Thirty - Smooth Criminal

I was reapplying my concealer in the mirror of the bathroom when Rachel came in, it was barely enough to cover my eyebags but it would do. "Hey Poppy, can we talk?" I nodded, waiting for her to continue. "I mean, you're the only other person who knows, so,"

"Blaine knows," I pointed out, sternly.

Rachel nodded, "I figured you would have told him. Though I did want to speak to you. I like to think that despite being in competition, we're still friends, or at least that we'll look out for each other, especially with Finn being your step-brother."

I sighed, "I want the best for the Finn, and I know you're one of the best things in his life. But that's right now, and getting married at this age could jeopardise your entire relationship, as well as both of your futures."

Rachel frowned, that wasn't the answer she wanted to hear, but it must have been the answer she expected. "What fi Blaine asked you to marry him? Could you say no?"

I took a deep breath, "I'd tell him another day when we're ready. But when it comes to things, both me and Blaine are going to New York after school, not because each other is there, but because that's where we see our future. I know you want to go to, but I also know Finn is only going for you. I don't think New York's the place for him Rachel, and the moment he gives up his own future for yours is the moment you both become doomed."

I walked out, Quinn walking in the bathroom as I left. I couldn't stay there and continue to distribute my disapproval, I had other things to worry about.

Following English, I had stayed in the class finishing my story. Writing had been the only thing distracting me from my tiredness and anger, and I needed to distance myself from my emotion before I planned payback on Sebastian. Santana walked in, noticing I was still in there during lunch. "Hey, what are you doing?"

"Just, trying to distract myself I guess." I shrugged before she pulled up a chair and sat opposite me. "I just want to get revenge but I don't want to do something impulsive and ruin our chances at Regionals."
