Chapter Thirty-One - Count on Me
"All right guys!" Schue ran into the choir room as over-enthusiastically as ever, "Let me ask you something, where do you think you'll be in the year 2030?"
"Broadway." both Rachel and Kurt said without hesitation, before looking over at each other and exclaiming, "Twinsies!"
"New York," I responded while doing the math on my hands for how old I would be.
Artie put his hand up smiling, "Walking."
"Jail, or dead, or both." Puck answered somewhat truthfully.
"Wherever you are," Schue continued to make his point, "whatever you're doing, you're going to need to be able to be speak Spanish. The reality is, by 2030, more people on this planet will be speaking Spanish than any other language. The world is changing. Our culture is changing and that needs to be reflected here. So for our next assignment, we're only doing songs written or performed by someone Latin, or of Latin descent. Or English songs performed bilingually."
"Ooh, I'm bilingual." Brittany smiled.
Santana raised her hand, "Uh, Mr Schue, though I love that we're finally getting all Lima Sound Machine in here, why now?"
Schue sighed, "Oh, Santana, because it's long overdue."
"Like a week dedicated to Oasis, or the Beatles, or any British music at all? Pink Floyd?" I pointed out, nearly all the songs we did were American and there were some British hits we had been shamefully avoiding.
Schue acknowledged me, "Yes Poppy, but this week we're doing Latin music. The truth is, I love all things Latin." Everyone chuckled, "I mean, I love Latin food, Latin art, Latin people."
Santana shook her head, "You don't know any Latin people."
Just as she spoke, an attractive, Latin male walked in the room, saying something in Spanish I couldn't understand. "Is he like that Holly person and I'm the only one who doesn't know him?" I questioned to Kurt, he shook his head and explained that he would have remembered very clearly if he had seen that face before.
