Chapter 4 ~First Day Part 2~

Edward's POV:
I was walking into the cafeteria, "Who's he?" I heard one of the new girls ask, referring to me. Most of her thoughts were about her wanting me and wanting to be with me.

"That's Edward Cullen. He's totally gorgeous, obviously, but apparently nobody here's good enough for him. Like I care, you know?" I heard Jessica Stanley say making me smile a bit.

I got to my family's table and sat down as I felt eyes on me. I knew one of them was the new girl, who was wanting me.

"Seriously, like, don't even waste your time" Jessica told the girl. I thought she was talking to the girl, who apparently has staring problems.

"Uh I just wanna make friends before I even think about the whole dating thing" I heard the most beautiful voice, I've ever heard.

I looked up and saw the other new girl. I saw the back of her head. I tried to read her mind, but there was nothing. "I can't read her mind" I told my siblings.

"Which one?" Rosalie asked. "The one on the left. The one who might be my mate" I told them.

"I knew she was going to be a problem" Rosalie said which made me glare at her. I was about to say something when I heard the other girl say something.

"As if he would even want to date you. Who'd want to date you?" she told my possible mate.

"Who would want to be with someone who spends her first day of school trying to hurt someone else and make comments about them?" my possible mate told her which caused the cafeteria to go silent.

Everyone was watching and listening to the scene that was unfolding in front of us. "You have a serious problem. You don't know me and you're making it your life mission to hurt and insult me. No one is going to want to be with you, let alone be friends with you because you have a terrible personality and horrible attitude towards others. I feel sorry for you" my possible mate told her.

I could hear everyone's thoughts about what happened. Many were shocked and impressed, even her new friends were impressed at how she defended herself.

"I'm going to head to class early. I'll see you guys later" she told her two friends.

She stood up and looked at me as I looked at her. When our eyes connected, I could've sworn I thought my undead heart skipped a beat.

It was her, the one from Alice's vision. She really was more beautiful in person. She looked away from me then walked out of the cafeteria as I watched her leave.

"It's her. She's my mate" I told my siblings. Alice squealed quietly, "I knew it!" she exclaimed quietly.

"You should still keep your distance" Rosalie told me, making me roll my eyes at her.

"Are you really willing to put our whole family in danger for some human?" she asked me.

"She's not just any human. She's my mate. What would you do if it was Emmett?" I asked her and she remained quiet.

"That's what I thought. You have no right to tell me not to be with my mate when you get to be with yours. I finally get a chance at being happy and you're trying to take that away from me?" I told her.

"I'm just trying to protect our family" she tried to reason with me. I shook my head, "No, you're being selfish. You get to be happy, but I can't" I told her before standing up and walking away from them.
