Chapter 14 ~The Return of Alice~

Lily's POV:
"Breath" I heard someone say.

"Breath, Lily. Come on" I heard the person say again as I felt someone push down on my chest.

I coughed up water as I slowly opened my eyes and saw Jake.

"Lily? Lily, can you hear me?" he asked me.

"Jake?" I asked softly.

He sighed in relief, "Come here" he told me as he slowly helped me up and tried to warm me up with his wolf body heat.

"What happened?" he asked me.

"Bella. She pushed me off the cliff. She tried to kill me so she can have you and Edward" I told him and he became angry.

"Get her home! I'm gonna go help out over at Harry's place" Sam yelled to Jake.

"What happened at Harry's? Is Will okay?!" I asked panicking over my son.

"Will's fine. It's Harry. He had a heart attack. Charlie, my dad, and Danny are over at his place with his family" Jake told me.

"Is he okay?" I asked worriedly.

"He's gone" Jake told me sadly.

"Come on. I'll get you something dry and drive you home" he told me as he helped me up and I started to shiver.

He drove my car back to my house as I continued to shiver.

"108 degrees over here" Jake told me and I put my head on his shoulder and began to warm up.

"God, my hands are freezing. When is she gonna stop trying to kill me?" I asked angrily.

"She's tried to kill you before?" he asked me confused.

"Well she handed me off to Victoria's mate so she can be turned into a vampire and have Edward in return" I told him and his grip tightened on the steering wheel.

"Must be nice, never getting cold" I told him, trying to distract him.

"It's a wolf thing" he told me.

"Nah. It's a Jake thing. You're just warm. You're like your own sun" I told him as we pulled up in front of my house.

"This is better, now that you know about me" he told me but I sensed there was something else he wanted to say.

"But?" I asked him.

"You saw what happened to Emily. Sam got angry. Lost it for a split second. Em was standing too close. He'll never be able to take that back. What if I got mad at you?" he told me before turning away sadly.

"Sometimes, I feel like I'm gonna disappear" he told me.

"Not that you need me to tell you this but I'll always bring you back from losing yourself. I wouldn't let that happen to my best friend" I told him.

"How?" he asked me.

"I'll tell you how special you are. Everyday if I have to" I told him while giving him a smile.

He was going to lean in when I pulled back. I didn't see him like that. I only saw him as my friend. My best friend.

"Thank you. For saving me. For everything" I told him before opening my door.

"Wait" he said before closing my door.

"There's a vampire" he told me and I froze in fear of Victoria coming back for me.

"H-How do you know?" I asked him shakily.

"I can smell it. I'm getting you out of here. We'll pick up Will and take you both somewhere safe" he told me as he started my car.
