Chapter 12 ~Explanations~

Lily's POV:
Jake took Will and I to the beach so we could talk. I put Will down and held his hands to help him practice walking.

"So you're a werewolf?" I asked him.

"Last time I checked" he told me.

I shook my head, "I shouldn't even be surprised at this point. Vampires and Witches exist. I'm waiting for a dragon to come out" I told him causing him to chuckle.

"A few lucky members of the tribe have the gene. A bloodsucker moves into town and the fever sets in" he explained to me.

"Mono" I said as I picked up Will again.

"Yeah. I wish" he told me.

"Well, can't you find a way to just stop?" I asked curiously.

"It's not a lifestyle choice, Lily. I was born this way. I can't help it" he told me.

"You're such a hypocrite. What, I'm not the right kind of monster for you?" He asked me.

"Were you the ones hurting the hikers?" I asked him.

He shook his head, "No, we're not hurting or killing anyone" he told me.

"Then who is?" I asked.

"What we're trying to protect you people's from, the only thing we do kill, vampires" he told me.

"Jake, you can't..." he cut me off, "Don't worry. We can't touch your little precious Cullens unless they violate the treaty" he told me.

I shook my head, "That's not what I'm saying, I just don't want you or anyone else getting hurt by other vampires" I told him.

"Really? We took out that leech with the dreads easy enough" he told me.

"Laurent?" I asked him.

He nodded, "And his red-headed girlfriend is next" he told me and I froze as I held Will closer to me.

"Victoria's here?" I asked scared.

"Was. We chased her all the way to the Canadian Border the other night. She keeps coming back. We don't know what she's after" he told me.

"I do" I told him shakily.

He looked at me, confused, "Me. She's after me" I told him.

I shook my head, "I have to get Danny, we have to leave" I told Jake before turning around.

"Lily, wait. Slow down" he told me as he grabbed my arm, "Why do you have to leave?" He asked me.

"She'll be after me. She wants to kill me and if she finds Will, she'll kill him too" I told him.

"Why would she be after Will?" he asked me.

"Jake, Will's not my adopted brother" I told him shakily, "He's my son" I revealed and his eyes widened.

He shook his head, "No, no he's not" he said in denial.

"Jake, I know you noticed his scent. How it smells a little like a vampire. The others noticed it too. So did Laurent" I told him.

"He's a leech?" Jake asked angrily.

"His human side is more dominant. He eats, sleeps, and grows just like any other baby. He rarely has to drink animal blood" I told him.

"You saw how Will is. You've known him for 3 months. You've seen how he acts. He's more human than vampire" I added.

He sighed, but nodded. "We need to tell the others about Will" he told me.

"Jake, if they try to hurt my son, they'll have to go against me, Danny, and all the ancestors" I told him.

He shook his head, "I won't let them hurt him. Just explain your side of the story" he told me and I nodded as we made our way back.

When we got there, they were all sitting at the table. "Sam, there's something you need to know. All of you do" Jake told him.

Sam looked hesitant but nodded. "Will's not my brother. He's my son" I told them.

"Who's the father?" Emily asked as she moved by Sam.

"Edward Cullen" I told them and Paul stood up and started to shake, "That's a leech?" He asked angrily, pointing at Will.

"He's part vampire. But his human side is more dominant" I told them, "He eats, sleeps, and he grows somewhat faster than a usual baby. He rarely drinks animal blood" I added.

"He's not dangerous, Sam" Jake told him.

Sam looked at me hesitant, "Has he tried anything?" he asked me.

I shook my head, "No, he's been around other humans, even ones his age and there's never been an incident" I told him.

He sighed, "All right, but we need to let the elders know. He's welcome to be on our lands" Sam told me.

"Thank you, Sam" I told him and he nodded.

"We know what the redhead is after" Jake told them and everyone looked at us.

"She's after me" I told them.

"Why's she after you?" Embry asked.

"Because Edward killed her mate and now she wants to kill his which is me. Her mate, James wanted to take me away when he found out I was a witch" I told them.

"Why did he want to take you?" Jared asked.

"There are some vampires that want to use witches for their personal gain. They wanted us as servants and if we refused, we were killed. That's why there's not a lot of us left" I told them and Emily gave me a sad look.

"It's why I was so angry when I found out that you all knew about me. The more people who know the more chance that someone might take me or kill me" I told them.

"Only the elders and everyone here knows about you. No one else" Sam assured me.

I nodded before turning to Jake, "I gotta get home. It's getting late and I need to tell Danny that Victoria was here" I told him.

"He knows about Vampires?" he asked me.

"Do you guys know anything about witches?" I asked rhetorically.

"Danny's my protector. His purpose is to keep me safe. The Cullens weren't the first vampires we've met and we had to kill some of them" I told him.

He nodded, "Come on, I'll take you and Will home" he told me and I nodded.

He drove my car back to my house and parked out front. I got out and grabbed a sleeping Will. I looked around paranoid.

"Don't worry. We've got this place covered. She won't get near you, Danny, or Will" he told me.

"Look you've gotta be careful" I told him.

"You know, your lack of confidence in us is a little insulting" he told me amused.

"I do have confidence in you. I just don't want anything to happen to you" I told him.

He nodded, "All right, I'd better go. Got a vampire to catch" he told me.

I nodded before heading inside and changing Will into his pajamas before setting him in his crib.

After that, I went to sleep and dreamed of him again. When will you come back to me?
