I went downstairs and straight out the door to my car and drove to school. I needed confirmation. I need the truth.

When I got to school, I got out and looked for him. I saw him look at me before I started walking towards the forest and I knew he was going to follow me.

I kept walking deeper and deeper into the woods to make sure no one could see or hear us.

I stopped and took a deep breath, "You're impossibly fast and strong. Your skin is pale and ice-cold. Your eyes are different than the others of your kind. You never eat or drink and you don't go out in the sunlight" I told him as I felt him right behind me.

"How old are you?" I asked him.

"Seventeen" he answered from right behind me.

"How long have you been 17?" I asked him.

"A while" he told me.

"I know what you are" I told him.

"Say it then" he told me.

"Vampire" I said out loud.

"Are you afraid?" he asked me.

I turned to look at him, "Of you? Never. Of others of your kind? Yes" I told him.

"Then you know what we eat" he told me.

I nodded, "Of course I know. You aren't the first vampire I've met" I told him. "And I know you won't hurt me" I added honestly.

He didn't say anything for a while before he grabbed my hand and led me somewhere. "Where are we going?" I asked.

"Up the mountain. Out of the cloud bank. You need to see what I look like in the sunlight" he told me before putting me on his back and running up the mountain.

When we made it, he put me down and walked towards the sunlight. "This is why we don't show ourselves in sunlight. People would know we're different" he told me before unbuttoning his shirt a little and turned to me.

I watched as his skin sparkled in the sunlight. "This is what I am" he told me.

I never saw a vampire in the sunlight before. I walked towards him slowly and hesitantly put my hand on his chest and he froze at my touch.

"It's like diamonds" I observed. "This is the skin of a killer, Lily" he told me before buttoning his shirt up and walking away from me as I followed.

"I'm a killer" he told me as I followed him.

"I don't believe that. I've met killers before and that's not you" I told him.

"That's because you believe the lie. It's camouflage. I'm the world's most dangerous predator. Everything about me invited you in, my voice, my face, even my smell. As if I would need any of that" he explained before running away from me.
