Today's the day. The day they've all been nervous and worried about.
They walked to the clearing and waited for the Volturi. Katie held Edward and Will's hand as Hope held Lily and Will's other hand.
Danny and Bree stood on Lily's side, behind them as they all waited.
"If we live through this, I'll follow you anywhere, woman" Garrett told Kate.
"Now you tell me" Kate said.
Everyone tensed up when they heard the Volturi and their army coming. Lily moved Hope and Will closer to Edward and Katie.
"The Redcoats are coming! The Redcoats are coming!" Garrett whispered.
The Volturi and their army came into view and it's clear that they outnumbered the Cullens and their witnesses.
"Aro's looking for Alice" Edward told Lily as the Volturi came closer.
Then everyone heard howling, it was the wolves. They came up from behind. Jake and Seth came and stood beside Lily as Leah stood next to Danny.
Carlisle steps forward, "Aro, let us discuss things as we used to. In a civilized manner."
"Fair words, Carlisle. But a little out of place given the battalion you've assembled against us" Aro replied.
"I can promise you, that was never my intent. No laws have been broken" Carlisle told them.
"We see the children. Do not treat us as fools" Caius said.
"They are not Immortal!" Carlisle exclaimed, "These witnesses can attest to that. Or you can look. See the flush of human blood in their cheeks" he added, gesturing to the kids.
"Artifice!" Caius exclaimed.
Aro held up his hand, "I will collect every facet of the truth. But from someone more central to the story. Edward, as the children cling to your newborn mate, I assume you are involved" he said and extended his hand to Edward.
Lily looked at Edward, worriedly. He smiles slightly at his children before looking up at Lily then making his way to Aro.
Lily watched Edward walk to Aro and tried to use her shield to protect him, but he was out of reach.
Edward reached Aro and extended his hand for Aro to take.
Aro takes it and reads Edward's thoughts and realizes the children were not immortal. They were born, not turned.
Aro looks at the children in awe and shock, "I'd like to meet them" he said, not taking his eyes off the powerful hybrids.
Edward turned to Lily. She nodded and grabbed Will's and Hope's hand.
