Chapter 7 ~The Right Thing To Do~

3rd POV:

Jacob phased back to his human form once he was far enough from the other wolves and closer to the Cullen House.

All of a sudden, he heard a twig snap behind him and saw Seth running towards him.

"Don't worry. They're not following us" Seth told Jacob.

"What do you think you're doing here?" Jacob asked him.

"I left Sam's pack" Seth told him.

"Go home, Seth" Jacob told him.

"I won't stand behind him" Seth said.

"Oh, yes, you will. I'm not kidding. Get out of here" Jacob told him.

"Is that an order? Gonna make me bow down too?" Seth asked sadly.

"I'm not ordering anyone. Look, I'm just going off on my own here, okay?" Jacob said.

"Great, and I've got your back" Seth told him happily.

"No, you don't" Jacob told him, making Seth frown.

"If Sam comes after Lily, are you really ready to fight your own brothers? Your sister?" Jacob asked him.

"If it's the right thing to do" Seth answered him truthfully.

"I remember the night when Lily told us the history of her people. How vampires killed them. Sam and the others are gonna try and do the same thing. They'd be killing off the last of the Knight witches. The people who gave us our power to shift in the first place. If they kill Lily, then they're no better than the vampires" Seth told him.

"I don't want to be responsible for helping them kill probably one of the last witches that still exist" Seth added.

Jacob looked at him and saw how serious and honest he was being. And what Seth said was true, Sam and the pack are no better than the other vampires.

Jacob sighed then nodded, "Okay, I'm gonna go give the Cullens a heads-up" he told him before starting to walk to the Cullen house.

Seth smiled before following after his alpha. "How cool is this? Two-man pack. Two against the world" Seth said.

"You're getting on my nerves, Seth" Jacob told him.

"I'll shut up. Can do" Seth said.

They made it in front of the house where they saw Edward and Danny on the deck, "Get ready. They're coming for Lily" Jake told the two.

"They're not gonna touch her" Edward stated.

"Agreed" Jacob said and they nodded to each other. They were both ready to protect the girl they both love.

Edward walked in the house when Danny gave Jacob a small grateful smile, "Thank you for coming back to protect her" Danny told him.

Jacob returned the smile and nodded before Danny went back inside.

"Man, I can smell them from all the way out here" Leah said as she approached her brother and Jacob.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Jacob glared at her.

"I'm not gonna let my little brother get himself killed" she told him.

"Go away, Leah! I can take care of myself" Seth told her.

"That you think so proves that you need a babysitter" she told him.

"Okay, will the both of you shut up? Did Sam send you?" Jacob asked.
