"Please, calm down." Lucy spoke gently, "we don't want to hurt you. We just want to help."
"Well you better start answering my questions quickly then."
Lucy raised her hands and nodded, a small smile still on her face as she gestured to a bench not far away.
"Come sit."
You watched her and the man go and sit down, stood there for a few seconds before slowly trailing after them. Taking a seat on the opposite side of them.
"What is this place? Where are we?"
"This is a small town outside the walls. It's called Hemlock."
"Don't titans attack?"
Lucy shook her head with a small laugh.
"No, our smell puts the Titans off. They're only interested in humans, and well, we aren't humans."
"The hell are you then?"
"We're much like you. Humans, with demonic gifts, and our demon counterparts."
She pulled her dress down a little, and just under her collarbone was a mark. A seal.
"Who's you demon?"
"Kaden, the demon of intelligence and strategies."
As she said that she pointed to the man sitting next to her. His eyes went from brown to bright yellow in a split second.
You stared in shock, eyes flicking between the pair before you regained your composure.
"Well, that's not like me then. You just made a contract with a demon, mine is in me."
"So was Kaden. He'd been living in me before I found a way to set him free."
This peaked your interest.
"You can do that?"
"Yes, we are able to detach our demons. It's harder than it looks though, and it's extremely dangerous."
You nodded your head solemnly, you wanted to know more but decided to wait until you could speak to Otis about it and get his thoughts on the situation.
"That doesn't answer my question what is this place?"
"It's a safe place for humans and demons like us. The ones that just want to live in peace."
You nodded your head, it did seem oddly peaceful. From wha what you could see there was no walls, unlike home where no matter where you looked all you could see was walls.
As you thought of it, your heart begun to ache. Reaching up, you gently wrapped your hand around the necklace and the collar of the cloak.
"No need to worry. I made sure they all got home safe. I also left them your green cloak." Kaden spoke up.
His voice was deep get soft, raspy as if he didn't use it very much.
"Thank you..." you whispered.
But what about them, this place held so many people like you. People you could relate to and obviously learn from, but what about your friends? Erwin? Levi?
"We can take you back whenever you're ready. But it is safer for you here." Lucy sighed.
"Safer? What do you mean? I'm safe in the walls too, everyone knows who I am and accepts that."
"I don't doubt that, but there's... a danger to us out there.. something far more powerful then we could ever imagine."
"What is it?"
Lucy shuddered and shook her head, eyes full of fear.
"I can't say, but if you really wish to know. I could speak to the elder, but you would have to stay longer."
You debated this, everyone probably thought you were dead. You had things to learn here, you could even solve Otis' problem of wanting to be free.
Once you knew everything you could just go. She said you could go home at any point. So you nodded your head.
"Alright, I'll stay. I want to learn as much as I can."
"Well, why not have a look around. I'll have Kaden go with you while I try get in contact with the elder. You can stay with me for the time being."
"Thank you."
She smiled and left, leaving you with Kahan.
"Come." Was all he said.
He took you around the garden, and to what appeared to be a side gate and led you put onto a large front porch.
From here, you could see the whole place. It really was like a town, houses and other building, a market, people walking about, children laughing.
It was a whole new peace you had never felt before
