Chapter 27

It was like playing a never ending game of tug of war, you could feel something searching through your memory.

With everyone bad one that passed, you got yanked forward closer to the mirror, for the good ones that came through you pulled back.

"Keep going!" Otis yelled.

You closed your eyes tightly, reaching your other hand to wrap around his other wrist.

You kept think of the same things over and over again.

Peace.
Humanity.
Happiness.
Friends.
Family.
Love.
Erwin.
Levi.
Otis.
Sacrifice to protect those you care for.

You repeated everything that made you human.

Rage.
Sadness.
Loneliness.
Loss.
Misdirection.
Misjudgment.

All of these things that made you human, not just because Otis amplified them, but because you felt them.

There was nothing wrong with feeling bad emotions as well as good, it was what made you human.

Being human wasn't just about feeling happy things and making good memories. It was also the bad memories too, the ones that made you who you were, shaped you into the person you were now. Made you take the path you did and allowed you to meet everyone you knew.

"I may have done bad things... but I'm not a bad person!" You yelled.

You braced your feet on the edge of the mirror, holding on as tightly as you can.

"Let go!" Otis roared.

He let go of your wrists and tried pulling himself back but you wouldn't let him.

"No! I won't let go because you deserve to be free!"

"You'll get stuck!"

"I don't care! You've been stuck for too long Otis! If I can't stop Micheal then you can!"

Again you went back to pulling, but to no avail, it was like you were stuck, you didn't go forward but you never went backwards either.

All while Otis was begging you to let go, to try again another time when you had lived a bit longer. But you refused.

For you, it was no or never. If you couldn't pull Otis free now, you may never get the chance to again.

"You've got so many people here for you... I've got no one." Otis said gently, "please stop."

You shook your head, opening your eyes to see him stood with a sad smile, brown eyes begging you to just stop. To just let go and walk away.

"So What, what's the point if I can't have you here?!"

"I'll still be with you, I'll will be inside of you."

"I want you to stand next to me Otis!"

Tears started falling from your eyes, your vision becoming hazy.

"Yeah, you weren't so nice at first... but.. you're my best friend Otis... I want to be able to stand next to you. Hug you when you're sad or I'm scared... to be able to actually sit and talk to you face to face..."

More tears ran down from your eyes as you stood there in limbo.

"You're my best friend, you've been there for everything, seen everything. No one would understand like you because you were there too!"

"And I'll still be there (Y/N)! No matter what until the day you die I'll be with you in spirit! Inside you like I've always been!"

You shook your head, trying to stop the tears from falling.

"I want you here with me Otis! You deserve to be able to feel the world again and start over!"

You used your forearm to wipe your eyes the best you could and looked at him. You'd never been so emotional, with all your memories coming back all the emotions you ever felt were flooding your body.

"So I'm going to get you free no matter the cost!"

You gave a hard pull, and Otis came tumbling out the mirror to one side, while your body went falling in to the other, eyes wide as you reached a hand out
