Purple sky

I can't look into
Your eyes still
My pace increases
When I feel you near
I can't help but
Wonder
And yet
This is my worst fear
Your favorite
Color was red
Because it is
Vibrant
And loud
You always wore a red shirt
When I bought you one
You were so proud
You wore it
The next day
Told everyone around
Who gave you
The crimson
Fire
You wore on your back
It was not the color
Of fire at all
And yet
I felt sparks
When your arm
Was around my shoulders
And you pulled me closer
I could smell the smoke

You knew my favorite color
Was purple
Like the flowers
I obsessed over
With perfect petals
That seemed to glimmer
In the sunshine
Oh how it made me feel
You once bought me
A purple locket
One that you had found
On sale
It had scratches
But still shined
And made you smile
When it chimed
Around my neck

But one day
You saw
Me
In my most vulnerable
State
You saw the red shirt
I had given to another
Your brown eyes
Were wide
Your mouth was agape
You seemed to shiver
With a cold so light
You looked at me
Then you looked at him
Then you saw
The bruise
On my neck
Your blood seemed to boil over
Then
Steaming your skin
Burning your bones
You punched him
In the stomach
With all of you
Your voice seemed deeper
When you said
"I hate you"
He moaned
And groaned
I could tell it burned
You walked away from me that day
Your hair flying up in the wind
Looking like flames
Eaten alive by my
Purple sky
