I find it to be true
That I do in fact love you
Though it seems to me
A bit shocking that at the age
Of twenty one
You saw me as a child
Who played with neon lights
Depended on those floating trees
Perhaps it was due to the shot glasses
Clanking against each other
It made me warm
When I should have felt cold
Or perhaps it was your smile
The way you laughed
That completely repulsed me
It burned with each gasp of
Smoke escaping through my pinched lips
Hold it in they say
If it burns your doing it right
They tell
Baby lungs! they yell
As I finally see the glowing moon
Lighting above me
You always seemed to give me
That sort of glance
That held a need
A want
A desire
The type of fire that could light my blunt
With the type of passion
That could burn through my clothes
I liked that about you
The way you could touch me
Take control
Hands unforgiving
In the backseat of your car
But I was a child to you
That often made me gasp
Not from your touch slowly moving
Down my thigh
But the lack of care
You took when I was in the dark
Knife in hand
See you again soon
You would say as you sit in your warmth
Hogging the light
I wanted the light too
That's why I steal the neon hearts
That swing in the trees
Belonging to those young boys
That could make me happy
But I love you
With your unforgiving hands
Why were you so rough with me
Was I not soft to the touch
Did I not give you a glance
That could burn you alive
Like the lighter I always keep on hand
For floating trees
Keep burning
Keep burning
Till my limbs freeze
