Jarred's Point Of View
Days and weeks have passed and I could say that the one month break that we had was the most beautiful days of my life. I never knew that I could feel so contented with just staying at home and doing my daily routines on a cycle. My routines was never this fun until I got to do them with Gwen. From our simple coffee making together in the morning after we work out until our movie marathons every night. Gwen is fun to be with and I can say the she is indeed a very good friend and a future wife.
We spent our vacation together, sometimes we go to the beach or spend our whole day in the mall, shopping and watching movies. Yes, even when we're in the mall, we still watch movies like how we do it when we're at home. We also went to Baguio with our friends and spent 5 days there. Gwen's friends are nice and fun to be with and they clicked with my friends as well. And after those, we spent our Christmas together in her parents' house. Our families decided to spend the Christmas and New Year together so that we don't have to choose where to stay because we will be all together.
For Christmas, I gave Gwen a pair of earrings from
Cartier and she gave me a Rolex watch. I remember how her eyes widened when she saw what I got for her."I got you a pair of earrings because I noticed that you love them so much. Merry Christmas, baby!" I smiled at her, she smiled back at me and hugged me briefly. I smiled wider.
"May I try it on you?" She nodded and started removing her earrings. I closed our distance and started putting the earrings on her ears.
"It looks good on you."
"Thank you, Jarred. Merry Christmas!" I winked at her and she chuckled.
"Well, I got you a watch. I hope you'll like it." I immediately offered my wrist to her.
"Try it on me, please." Malambing na sagot ko. She rolled her eyes and started putting the watch on my left wrist.
"Thank you, baby." She nodded and I hugged her tightly.
"Nakakahiya, baka hinahanap na tayo sa baba ng parents natin." She spoke whil we were still hugging each other.
"It's okay. It's our first Christmas together, they would understand." I kissed the top of her head.
After Christmas, we went home to our house and went back to our normal routine before we prepared for our stay in my parents' house for New Year. It was a normal yet special New Year's eve because we are all together again. I think, we will be spending Christmas and New Years like this from now on since Gwen and I are getting married after we graduate and our families will be connected forever.
"Do you want to go out for lunch?" I asked Gwen as we walked towards the room for her first subject. It's the first day of our second semester.
"But my lunch break is different from yours." She pouted that made me smile. What a beautiful face she has.
"Let's just eat together after class, then?" I offered. I wanted to say that I can just skip my class so we can eat lunch together but I know that we can't compromise our classes, Gwen will get mad.
"Okay! See you at 5!" She answered and stopped when we are finally outside her room.
"Bye. I'll miss you, babe." I teased her. She stuck her tongue out that made me laugh.
"Shut up."
"Bye, Jarred and Matt! See you later!" She smiled sweetly before turning her back at us. She smiled and shooed me.
"Shut up, bro."
"It's good that you're not denying it. Magmumukha ka lang tanga kung itatanggi mo kasi kita naman ng lahat kung gaano ka ka-hulog na hulog sa fiancee mo." Napailing ako at matagal bago nakasagot.
"I don't want to think about it that much. We're taking everything slowly." I answered, playing safe. Napa-tango naman siya.
"That's nice, bro. But you still have to sort out your feelings. You can't have hangups with Leslie while falling for Gwen. It will give you a headache and worst, heart ache." I nodded. I know that, but it's still nice to be reminded so that I don't forget about it completely.
"Kakausapin ko naman si Leslie."
And I didn't know that I would be talking to her this soon. We are inside a cafe near our university. It was my lunch break when we bumped into each other and she asked me if we could talk. I was just about to ask her, so I said yes and we immediately decided to go here.
"Do you want to speak first?" I asked her formally. I don't know but I kind of feel awkward about our meeting. Maybe because we didn't end properly, not that there is something official to be ended between us, in the first place.
"How are you?" She asked that made me stare at her eyes. Is she serious? The last time that we talked, she was mad at me.
"I'm good. How about you?" She smiled a bit.
"I'm doing good, too." I nodded and we both fell silent. We chose to call the waiter and order first before deciding to talk again.
"I'm really sorry for what happened to us, Leslie. My engagement with Gwen was a surprise for me as well, but I have already committed myself to it." She smiled at what I said.
"I know. I'm sorry if I got mad before. I was just so sad because it was the day that I wanted you to be my boyfriend, officially. But you chose to stop what we have and commit to Gwen, whom you have known for months only." I nodded. I understand her.
Weeks after my parents told me about my arrange marriage with Gwen, I decided to talk to Leslie. Unfortunately, it was the day that she planned to say 'yes' to me. She told me to talk first kaya bago pa siya um-oo sa akin, I was able to explain everything to her, and told her that I need to stop courting her because it's not right to continue courting her when I know that I am bound to marry Gwen.
She cried so hard that day and I was so shocked when she confessed how she wants me to be her boyfriend already. After months of courting her, gusto niya na akong sagutin, but I chose to end it. I know it was a bad move for me dahil parang pinaasa ko lang siya. But I didn't want to complicate things more that's why I ended it right before our relationship even started.
"I understand you, Leslie. I would probably feel the same way if I was in your situation. And thank you, for finally understanding me, too. I chose Gwen because I know that I will end up with her. I don't want to prolong your heartache if I choose to be your boyfriend even if I know that I will marry Gwen in the end." I stopped talking because our order arrived and we started eating.
"Jarred, you know exactly that you can try to say 'no' to your parents and start a relationship with me, right? But you chose not to. Are you aware why you ended up with that decision?" Napakunot ako ng noo sa tanong niya.
"I don't like saying 'no' to my parents." I answered. She chuckled and sipped on her frappe.
"Of course, I know! But maybe there's another reason why you chose Gwen?" She smiled, a genuine one. I hope she's happy for me, I still consider her as my friend. And because I am really happy with what I have with Gwen right now.
"Well, I'm not sure about that, yet." Napatawa siya kaya napangiti narin ako.
"I hope you find it out real soon. Anyways, I also want to tell you that I am pregnant." Nanlaki ang mga mata ko. What? She's pregnant?
